Exclamation Super urgent, brake lights are out

So, i noticed a week ago that the center brake light was out. A few days ago, i noticed it was working again. Now i thought i just didn't see the light because there was too much of a reflection from the sunset. last night, i saw the center light was indeed out.

I thought this meant that a plug was loose in the back. So i climb in the back, rummage around and find how to take the center light off. I play around with it, have the pedal held down and test the plug poles for and current... nothing. so the wiring issue is further down. I decided not to do anything about it and have it checked out. then, as im packing everything up, i go to move the car, i feel a click in the brake pedal and notice the abs, slip and vdc-off lights not clearing. I back the car up to the garage door to see a reflection from the brake lights. nothing.

So now my brake lights are out, and tomorrow is monday. great. any help would be appreciated.

-Zach

Don't know if this will help, but in my previous car (Maxima) I had the same problem. Turned out to be a dead ignition switch.

i dont know how it could be the problem, they were working 30 minutes before this happened. would the engine not start if the switch is faulty? because it starts fine.

Yes the engine started. All my dash lights were out as well as the brake lights though.

Are your dash lights working?

yep all my gauges and lights are functional. im getting the error lights (abs, slip and VDC-off) on constantly. they normally clear when you fire up the engine.

Probably not your issue then. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Did you check all of your fuses? Maybe blew one poking around the 3rd brake light?

Make sure you check the fuse box behind the battery in the engine compartment as well.
