Premium Package

Is the premium package a must have?

Should i get a coupe with the aero and moonroof, or a fully loaded sedan?

I can't afford the premium package on the coupe, do you think the coupe will still be worth it?

Re: Premium Package

You might as well buy the car completly loaded, you're going to pay a arm and a leg anyway. It's like buying the engine with no features kinda.

Re: Premium Package

I'd say that depends on if you're ordering from the factory or planning to buy from standing inventory.

If you're ordering the car, then get it exactly like you want it. If you have doubts about the value of the Premium Pkg, then I wouldn't spend the money on it.

On the other hand, if you're planning to buy from inventory, I think you'll be lucky to find a car that doesn't have the Prem already. So you may have to be a little more flexible on what you'll accept on the car than you would with an order. Otherwise, you may have trouble even finding one like you want on a lot, let alone an unsold one you can actually buy. But go look around anyway. You never know.

Re: Premium Package

i disagree with benathon.
I have a 6MT with no options, i personally do not think the premium package is worth $2,500
Just get it without the premium.
Many luxury items come stock, so the premium package is NOT ESSENTIAL. You will be just as happy without it! TRust me!

Re: Premium Package

also.....a sunroof is NOT essential, especially if your tall like me, i'd rather have that extra inch of headroom,
also, the sound system that comes stock is just fine, the bose system that comes with the premium is NOT worth the extra $1000, you know what kind of system you can put in your car for $1000? Try 11 speakers, 1200 watts, all custom installed
There is nothing wrong with ordering a G35 Leather or 6MT Leather, with no options, this car comes with lots of goodies anyway
Also, aero package is non-essential if you cant afford it, you can always get an after-market spoiler for less than $200
If your trying to save money, then im sure you can find a G for under 32 or 33K USDollar EASILY

Re: Premium Package

I think for $2250 or $2500 it is well worth the money for the premium package. I think when it comes time to sell the car (God forbid), you will get less interested buyers, since after all they'll be looking for all the goodies on the G(in my opinion).

Premium Package :

• Bose Audio System
• Power Glass Sunroof w/Slide & Tilt
• Automatic On/Off Headlights
• Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control
• HomeLink Universal Transceiver
• Electrochromatic Auto. Anti-Glare Rearview Mirror

Re: Premium Package

The value of the premium package depends on the included components that you want. For me, it was important to have the homelink as I have of couple of garages to access and didn't want the remotes clipped on the passenger visor. And, RR said, you shouldn't get it primarily for the stereo. It will be a good selling point to have the premium package but if not and you install an awesome stereo, you'll have a different type of buyer looking at the car when you're ready to sell it. ...dean

Re: Premium Package

Just have a good look at what's in the premium package and gage how much you value each thing. For me, a Sunroof was a must-have, and I like the duto-dimming mirrors, homelink, lights, etc so thought it was a bargain for my money. But obviously others don't so just base it on whether you're willing to shell out the 2500 for these extras.

Re: Premium Package

Ramb0 makes a great point, though. If you look at the standard equipment list for any G, the car already comes friggin' packed with features. It practically has more equipment stripped than the "loaded" Acura CL I replaced with it.

Still, I got the premium because the moonroof is always a must-have for me, and the Bose stereo I also wanted. So the package was a no-brainer for me. The other features in it seem to just be throw-ins pretty much.

Re: Premium Package

IMHO, Cars without sunroof and leather does not sell as fast as those with leather and sunroof. Although this topic isn't about sunroof, premium package does include sunroof.

I am originally from BMW forum and I found out that the almost every dealers does not want Yellow exterior with non-black interior. They said people don't want cars without sunroof and leather. This also applies to Infiniti of Denver. They had one red 6spd without any add-on, they couldn't sell it for months! I am not kidding. I have seen the car for 2 months and every other G35 coupe would sell left and right but this car was there for FOREVER!

If you do think about selling your car later on, of course this can be little extreme but people tends to buy car with at least little bit of option. Sunroof and leather is always essential for "luxury" car. The Infiniti owners might be little different than BMW but then again I don't know. I would only buy car without any option if I am going to autox.

Re: Premium Package

Personally, I think leather is totally overrated. This G-coupe is my 3rd car in a row with leather, but if I could've gotten a 6MT without leather, I would've done so.

People like me take leather only because they have to (usually because it's bundled with other options that I want more). But maybe I'm in the minority on that.

I think dealers like cars with leather because they can charge more for it.

Re: Premium Package

I ordered the premium package for the sunroof, anti-glare mirror and homelink system. The Bose is OK, but not a reason to upgrade. The other systems are nice, but if they weren't there I don't think I'd miss them.

Still waiting for delivery for my coupe.
It's all personal preference. Coupe vs sedan -- what do you need? Two seats or four? Personally I like the coupe better. Me, I wouldn't get the sedan, it's not what I need. I don't need a four door car. I have an SUV for that.

Re: Premium Package

Hey, I also think the leather is WAY overrated, I live in California, and having black leather is like sitting in a steam room, especially on those long commutes, and do you know how cold it gets (the leather) for us Californians at 5.am during the winter? BRRRRR

But about the sunroof thing, I had a Nissan Maxima, I NEVER opened the sunroof because 1) the sun would always get in my eyes 2) the sun would bake my leg 3) i couldn't hear the music and didn't want to look like an idiot blasting it.

Buy what you need, I personally bought a cloth interior Coupe with no premium package stuff. But I did get screwed, I couldn't get the Tire and WHeel package (the 18's + LSD) because of it being a "base car", otherwise known as the low end...I hate that, but what are you going to do. Now I understand why they charge you $650 for the T&W package, you have to buy the $2500 premium + $XXXX leather to even out the cost of the Rims and the LSD in the rear. Thats buisiness for you.
