Gas Mileage

Okay I get 11.7 miles per gallon... wtf is that!? I mean I dont think even if i drove like a total a_s_s i could get that MPG. Is something wrong with my car? What can I do..? Could the NAV miscalculating?

Re: Gas Mileage

Is the car new? Did you do a long trip check? Did you do a proper check instead of relying on the Navi? The navi tends to be inaccurate on short distances.

Re: Gas Mileage

gsm i think its because he drove like an @$$ as he said, of course your gonna get only 11mpg lol
25 on the highway, 18 in the city sounds about right
11 if your living at the redline which you probably are

Re: Gas Mileage

RR dude, I think he said if he drove like an a$$. Sounds to me like he's driving normal and should be getting decent mpg's.

Re: Gas Mileage

Hit the trip odometer next time you fill up. Then when you fill up again calculate your mpg.

Do you sit in a lot of traffic jams? Sitting at idle = 0 mpg. The NAV is going to calculate total mpg, which includes both driving and idling.

BTW, about how many miles does everyone get on a tank of gas?

When the low fuel light comes on and you refuel, how many gallons go in? I know the tank holds 20, but what does the car use as a "reserve" below the low fuel light?

Re: Gas Mileage

Inifniti and Nissan are notorious for having plenty of fuel left in reserve after the fuel light comes on at E. I'm pretty sure these cars don't have a reserve tank so the best way to tell would be to check your OM to see what the max capacity of the fuel tank is, then when you fill up from the gas tank, see how much less you need till you fill it up (just make sure you're at "Empty" when you fill it up). Usually The difference will be at least 2-3 gallons based on the nissan and infiniti that I have had. So even though the NAV says you only have so many miles left until refuel, you have PLENTY left after it says 0.

Re: Gas Mileage

According to the owners manual the car has a 20 gallon tank. Damn that's huge. Guess that's why I'm putting $40 a week in her. Right now after 3600 miles I am average 17-19 city and 25-27 freeway. It depends on my driving which most of the time is too fast, he he.

Re: Gas Mileage

When I'm playing around with the car, I can see 11-13 mpg's, wich is often when driving around town. Usually I am getting around 17-19 city and 22-25 on highway. I also notice when the car says that I'm low on fuel and I go to refuel, I only put in about 16 gallons. I'm tempted to try and go further, but I;m to chicken to run out of gas. It'd kind of embarrassing to have AAA come and give you gas on the freeway or on the street.

Re: Gas Mileage

I personally, would never let my low gas indicator light come on. Even though my engine is new and there's probably little if any sediment in there, I always refuel before it gets to less than a quarter tank left. With that said... The first week I had the car I was maybe getting 15 MPG, once i Learned how to drive it I'm now averaging 18.5 w/ 90% city driving.

Re: Gas Mileage

Like you say it's better the error is that way than the other way. Capacity is 76 litres on the Coupe and I've only ever put in 70 and that's after the low fuel light comes on and the Navi says -- 0 distance to empty.
Exactly the same with the Sedan I had.
The only accurate way to check mileage is to measure the distance you travel and divide by the number of gallons (litres) it takes on refill.
