Ok, maybe I should define someone else buying him his car. If someone (being a parent or legal guardian) pays in full for the car without intentions of being re-payed for a teenager and the car is of a decent caliber then I don't have sympathy or respect for you.

If he is planning to pay someone back, fine.

I think you're just trying to find loopholes now...

Depends on amout of coverage, liability or full coverage, deductible amount, good student discounts, the insurance company itself. Insurance doesn't typically drop for male drivers until they reach 25. I am 26 and was refused by one company...meanwhile, allstate signed me on with a $400 deductible, full coverage, for $112 a month....and thats even after they found my reckless driving ticket from 4 years ago...lol. Point being, every company is different.

Because tones are very hard to get over the keyboard. So it's not easy to determine if someone's being passively aggressive, or generous with what they're saying.

This is what you do....

since the car's insurance is under your parents name, have your mom or dad be the primary driver of the G so the rates don't sky rocket. you will obviously be under the additional drivers, and depending on your insurance agent, he could figure out what would be the lowest prices by matching all of your cars with specific drivers. (Ex. you become the primary driver of your mini van, your dad/ G)

but im not sure how your car insurance is set up, it varies lol

There are alot of ways to get around insurance rates, but thats usually just an excuse for parents because they just don't want to get you that car at 16, goodluck though

+1 to what the 2nd poster said lol

Not all kids who get cars from their parents are jerks who abuse their cars. My mom paid full for my i30, and I baby the ish out of this car. I dont let my mom drive this bcus Im worried she will not warm her up and park it in a dangerous place. So lets not all jump into conclusions. I also pay for my own insurence, gas, repair, mods etc.

Now Im thinking of purchasing a G and Im saving money and for it and Im not ashamed my mother purchased the car for me, my car now actually is in better condition than it was 2 1/2 yrs ago when we got it.

Good to hear, but kids that pay for there own cars get more respect, no offense or anything, but it shows alot of self discipline, and it also shows they can manage money

btw I got like $7060 now sold all my bb guns, still got alot of gopeds and parts, I'm hoping to reach 9k and by summer there should be some good *** deals, I found this 03 coupe 53k miles and navi, with sports package, he wants 10k but he'll settle at 9k, he also chromes
the wheels, but it's rebuilt, he said there was only a light hit on the left bumper. So ya some good signs hopefully they get even cheaper

Ginevan. Why derail a thread.

Who gives a **** if you bought the car for your own money?
Who gives a **** is some other kid got his parents to buy the car for him?
That does not make you or him either more or less cool.

Get over it.

Some people are lucky to have wealthy parents. I would love to be in those kids shoes when I was a kid.
