Confused about gas problem

Okay so first of all i've really been trying to figure out if the gas tank on the 04 coupes is 16 or 20 gallons because sometimes I am able to use up 16 and some times i can go a full 20 gallons on one tank. I know that someone told me that its a 16 gallon tank with a 4 gallon reserve tank because when it shows empty only 16 are gone. The problem is lately that i use up a full 20 gallons but when i fill it up, only 16 can go back in. I don't know whats wrong? any ideas?

Your worrying about it to much, fuel capacity is 15.9 gallons for the coupe.

15.9 imperial i believe, meaning there is 4.4 litres per gallon, remember there are two different types of gallons lol, one is 3.79 litres, the other is 4.4. You are most likely used to 3.79 because that is the american standard. litres are always the same as far as i know.

i always thought we had about a 75 litre tank. making it about 18 us gallons. just an idea.

oh, and i'm talking about the coupe....for a little fyi, i filled up 31.5 litres just the other day and it was just over 1 tick over half a tank, so

easy solution...don't let your fuel gauge drop below 1/4 tank.

i understand, but you also have to think of all the junk/debris that sits at the bottom of your fuel tank. if you're always running it to the last drop then all of that is going to get sucked into your system (yes, i know that's why there is a fuel filter...but it's still not recommended).

Yeah and the only problem is that it says its 20 gallons but when the light goes off thats only when your close to 16 gallons cuz that light will be on there for another 60 to 70 miles without running out of gas

This....^....is the best idea, when it gets to 1/4 mark on your gas gauge fill her up at the next opportunity. Since I bought my G I've never seen that light come on, not even sure it works....

you probably have an inaccurate gas level reading. The G's are infamous for this. It tells me I'm on E when i have a half tank sometimes.

Its a 20 gallon tank. And the low gas indictaor usually pops on at when i have 4 gallons left.

It's in your owner's manual if you want factory evidence.

2 more reasons to pump at 1/4 tank:

1. there are sediments in the gas that settle at the bottom of your tank that arent good for your engine.
2. i forget what they call it but our gas tanks are vented up top to keep it from getting built up with heat and exploding. The same vents allow for evaporation of the gasoline... granted it takes a very long time to evaporate just a bit of gas but everything helps.
