Looking to get a coupe

flame suit on D= =/

***does 06 MT have OC issues? ***

Hi there fellow g35's
I have been researching g's for the past few weeks, i made in post in the g35 sedan section, but recently have fallen in love with the coupes.

Long story short i had 11k to spend, now i have 18k playable. edit - 18 k or so for a 06 g.

main points i have seen addressed in the 20 or so pages of this thread would be

1. window motors start to die out and i BELIEVE it can be easily replaced <100 bucks.
2. funky cabin smells during hard acceleration.
3. actuator failures
4. compression issues? possibly?
5. oil consumption ?? (big no no on the g35 sedan threads)
6. "cop magnet" and insurance says red gets pulled over the most.
7. do anything but dont place a xbox on the passenger side and paint the center console white ; dont do 22's do 24s!!!. bahahDOMO

kidding.

Best place to buy? any issues i should look for specifically? i know for hondas they have a tranny issue, or like broken brackets from noobs ripping their bumpers off and on, misaligned body panels due to the bumper bolts being ripped off,
ive searched auto trader , cars.com and the like and it seems the normal pricing would be around 15k for 50k miles fully loaded. and nearing 11k for 100k+on the clock.
other members suggested i place a request at local dealers and to test drive often to get a feel for what a g feels like. just looking for some help deciding and questions i should ask / portions i should inspect instead of blindly walking into a dealership and wanting this and that at this price.

please and thank you. i appreciate all of your comments GREATLY. hoping to have pics up soon? :P
(dallas texas area) and i wouldnt mind making a drive

1. This is pretty common, though I haven't had it (04 with 80k miles)
2. Haven't had this
3. This is def. a common prob, one that I had
4. Haven't heard much about this. More higher mileage
5. Manual only
6. I think there's one thread about someone complaining, I've never been pulled over for my tails or tints

Other concerns are rattles and road noise. This bothers some people, but I don't care too much.

For the best price, check craigslist, but be weary about maintenance. You can also check the classifieds here.

The pricing you're looking at is pretty accurate. Assuming you want an FI kit, you're probably going to buy an 04 with decent mileage.

I think most people will tell you to use the money to get a low mileage 06.

yes, i was looking at MANUAL only, no AT no "autoMANUAL" so lame using the search function only to get those tags.
so i think the main thing is to get an 06, 6spd >?
do 06 have OC issues? i believe the fix is a new engine i think. not too sure, but i believe these engines are no SOHC motors that can be had for some chump change.

FI will be later down the road maybe after i learn all the ins and outs of this car. i plan on IHE up until than.
and thank you very much for your input!

Going FI on a 18k total budget is setting yourself up for a world of pain. Just get a nice low mileage coupe, throw on some bolt-ons as your budget allows, and call it a day.

Most people will tell you an 06.

You'll get both the refreshed interior (better console, seats, gauges) and exterior (sport bumper, tails, projectors).

With an 06 6MT, you'll also get the 298HP engine.

I think the question is what's more important to you. The update interior/exterior, or an FI kit?

FYI, the exterior pieces are easily swappable, the interior not so much.
