sometimes when i clutch in and turn the car on, it just doesn't crank up. i usually have to let off the clutch take the key out, and clutch in again to start up. am i supposed to put the key in before i clutch in? thanks.

why do you depress the clutch when you start the car up. You just start it in neutral?

I guess you're a Brit, so maybe they do things differently by you, but here in the USA, we have to depress the clutch to start the car. Its sort of like needing to push the brake to shift into gear with an auto.

my car has about 800 miles on it, but its been doing this since like 200 miles. i depress the clutch and try starting the car and nothing happens. so i get off the clutch and depress it again and then it starts.

I had the EXACT same problem. Take it to the dealer and tell them...they need to adjust the clutch pedal because its basically not realizing its pushed in when it is, so its not letting you start it. After a few months of them fixing it, I still have it RARELY happen, but it does still happen once in a while, and it kinda pisses me off.

areddy14, There is a switch on the clutch that has to engage properly b4 the engine will fire.
Sounds like that switch is faulty.
Have the dealer look at it and replace it if necessary.
