so, when i turn on the ac the light of the recycling interior air light comes on. isnt the light for external air coming in supposed to turn on instead?

To achieve the best performance, you ** want ** the air to be recycled from the inside as after a few minutes with the A/C working, the air inside the car is colder than the outside so you get cold air being recycled into even colder air. However, for the first few minutes after getting into a boiling car, drive off with the windows open and the air circulation set to bring air from the outside as the air outside at these few minutes is still colder (as much as it may seem hot outside) than the trapped air inside the car. After a couple of minutes of driving around with the air circulated from the outside, roll up the windows and turn the circulation to "inside" - as the air inside the car gradually gets colder and colder.

Whoa! thanks for the great explanation Speedholic... i always thought it was the opposite cause mercedes says not to use the interior air button for too long... supposedly its bad for the car and will eventually emit a nasty smell. guess the g's different. appreciate it!

Dosn't the Inside recycling, turn to outside recucling automaticaly after a few minutes of use? I can't prove it, but it seem like mine works like that in Auto mode.
