A couple questions...

Hey all, just bought a 2003 G coupe in November and I've been browsing these forums for the past couple months and now I have a few questions...

I'm interested in getting the 05/06 headlights, but I haven't found to many places where I can buy them. Can you guys point me in the right direction for the headlights and a new power lock for the drivers side?

Also I've been looking into exhaust+headers and like the sound of the Fujitsubo Legalis (based on not so good YouTube clips), anything bad about it I should know?, and any suggestions on which headers to go with would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

While I'm at it I might as well post a pic of the G.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to Driver.

I think I'd advise you against getting headers at first (and I'm sure a lot of other members would). I think you should get an exhaust and an intake first (or some suspension mods like lowering springs or coilovers).

What are you going for? Mainly appearance? Mainly performance? A little of both? And what's your budget?

Congrats on your purchase. Looks like the previous owner already lowered it a little bit and gave you clear corners and a black roof!

For headlights, I'd contact Tony at Riverside Infiniti.

The exhaust, I'm not too sure.

Good luck!

Welcome to driver....Nice coupe!

Installing the projector headlights is well worth the $, they're 100% better than the '04 OE lights. If you can find a set on eBay that are new that's the least expensive place to buy them....only NEW in box! Before you jump on headers there's a few mods you should do before. MotorDynes 5/16" Spacer ISO, this corrects Nissans plenum design flaw. Exhaust HKS, Stillen or MotorDyne but buy the dual cat back system. The cheaper single OE style will give you minimal increase in HP. Then its a good idea to throw on a intake and z-tube combo for sound and an extra 3 HP. Once you've done the above listed mods headers won't increase HP enough to install them....plus they're a PIA to install.

Thanks for all the replies

Budget isn't really a huge deal, in the end I'm more than likely going to go FI whether it be a Vortech or Procharger.
I'm gonna start by getting CAI, exhaust, plenum spacer, and wheels. The headers would be simply for sound. I know a CAI would be a waste if I go FI, but the ztube is only $60 or something.

Coilovers are something I've looked into, but for now the car has already been lowered.
I want to paint the roof black, the angle of that picture makes it look black.
As to what I'm going for, it would be performance first, appearance second.

Anyone know where to get a driver side power lock mechanism?

For the headlights, can't go wrong with Tony@Riverside Infiniti. Make sure you get the '06+.. '05s are still reflectors.

Not sure on the exhaust or headers.. any plans to get HFCs?

I'd probably ask Tony about the driver side power lock mechanism too. You can also get Infiniti parts from Coz@CZP.. https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...-off-list.html

Why would you get CAI and headers, when those will be tossed throwing in a turbo?

Only the CAI will be tossed if I go supercharger, which is what the plan is.

Well if you can explain how I got "screwed" maybe what you posted would have some relevance.

All you said in your previous post was

"Before you jump on headers there's a few mods you should do before. MotorDynes 5/16" Spacer ISO, this corrects Nissans plenum design flaw. Exhaust HKS, Stillen or MotorDyne but buy the dual cat back system. The cheaper single OE style will give you minimal increase in HP."

Lets start with the plenum spacer, which I am purchasing just a different brand. Like I said, the price of the Magnaflow was hard to pass up. Big deal, I saved $600-$700 compared to many other brands. The money saved was spent on headers which is likely going to make up and/or gain more hp then putting just a true dual catback system and sound better in my opinion.

So the only advice I really neglected was brand preference and you (with others) advising me not to get headers. I'll admit the price of the headers seems high. eBay has them for approx. $100 cheaper, until you add shipping.

Some brands are more expensive but thats because they offer better quality. If your gonna start modding your better off doing it correctly from the start.

I currently have Strup headers, the only thing they benefited was the sound. Unless you put your headers on yourself, your looking at a $400-500 installation fee. Now, I don't regret getting mine because combined with HFC's and the HKS dual cat-back, IMO the sound is awesome. However, there are a lot of good exhaust notes achievable without the use of headers. And the dual exhausts recommended will definitely give you higher gains.

The advise is important because a lot of members have experience with modifications and know what is best for our cars.

Magnaflow exhaust are not meant for FI... Piping are only 2.5"...

Plus I would have went with a Japanese brand for our cars.
