How much did Infiniti pay you to post this nonsense?

lol, yea im not paying $1000 for a valve cover gasket lol, ill get in touch with riverside and order the parts i need "belts/gasket/end links" and ill install them myself once it gets warmer outside, im sure theres a a nice helm's on the G i can find somewhere

at first i thought she meant head gasket, for 1k that would make sense considering there 150+ per hour rate etc, but not for a valve cover gasket...and i stil cant see this "leak" they claim, the engine looks spotless, no signs of oil leaking from anwhere

You should expect costs such as these when you take it to the stealership. Is that including labor?

Didn't you have the car thoroughly inspected by an independent certified mechanic BEFORE you bought it?

There are plenty of good independent certified mechanical repair shops out there which charge a significantly lower hourly rate. At least that is the case in a large city like Chicago.

When my G coupe was having chronic alignment issues an independent shop immediately diagnosed the cause as a one bent radius arm and torn radius arm bushings. Two times that I had brought the car to the Infiniti dealership and complained about alignment and cupping of tires the dealer said it was normal.

i bought the car out of state from a dealership, i was told it went under a 90 point inspection and everything on it was great', i flew out there to buy it and drove it all the way home', as much as i would have liked to take it somewhere and have it inspected i dont know the area and i had to be back in st.louis by 7pm and the dealership took nearly 3 damm hours to complete the paper work', it had fresh brake pads and tires

it looked great inside and out, looks taken care of'

anywho these parts are just normal wear and tear parts and are very cheap in cost, the end links from the riverside are $35, the valve cover gaskets "both sides" are $30 total, belts are only about $30, the only thing that dealer had that was a cheap was a transmission flush but considering there outrageous pricing on everything else now im worried it was cheap because they skimmped on the proper fluids, although i did ask them twice if they used OEM transmission fluid and it was a complete flush and not a drain and fill and was assured it was'

ill just be installing everything myself, end links will be simple, will just have to look up tq spec's, valve cover gasket should be a breeze as well, not sure on the drive belts but im sure it wont be anything too difficult either'

just another reason why to avoid the dealership, its an 04 with 40k miles, so its got low mileage but probably sat for a while', anywho ill get her all cleaned up and tuned up, ill get pic's eventually when this **** poor weather decides to vanish

^^^thats odd that you should need those things already, mine are fine but i guess thats how it goes, my cars only got 45K kilometers or about 28K miles, i just did the 30K service in which i basically did all of the fluids, felt good to get it out of the way, ill possibly do the belts next at my next oil change, i figure i will be in better shape if i keep ahead of maintenance, its better to replace a $200 part before it breaks and causes a $1000 in extra damage when it does, plus that way your never out of a vehicle, the G is my only ride.

Infiniti has created my attitude towards them....!

It's not odd at all, have you forgotten he got that quote from an Infiniti stealership? Chances are very good he may not need any of the repairs Infiniti listed with the exception of the brake fluid R&R after 40K miles. After 5 years on Driver and watching the threads about dealership dishonesty does anyone trust Infiniti. I only drive into a Infiniti dealership when I need warranty work done....they're totally aware I go to Nissan for service and do my own oil/filter changes

The valve cover gasket is also included with the spark plug seals right? I'm guessing your spark plug has traces of oil on it and the seals need to be replaced. Since the sparkplug gasket and valve cover gasket are sold as a set, you have to buy the whole thing.

I've replaced both my valve covers before under warranty. Valve cover with oil filler neck was about $180 and other side was $150 if I remember right. So you can tell the dealership suck a big one for 1K.

Here's what I am imagining:

Wheel, check...1
Tire, check...2
Fender, check...3
Seat, check...4
Steering wheel, check...5
Window, check...6
Paint, check...7
ETC.

Probably takes 2 people as well
