Getting stuff done by the mechanic. Is this a reasonable price?

I don't know much about cars, but I just want to make sure I'm not gettin harassed by the local mechanic. He's a nice guy and I've done business with him before. Pretty reasonable, but I would like to make sure. Thanks!

I'm getting:

Oil Change
Coolant Flush
Brake Flush
Front Brake Pads
Front Brake Rotars

all replaced and done for 445.

Thanks for your help!

I don't believe you mean harassed, how bout "Taken advantage of?" Being harrassed is when someone attacks you. Back to your question, $445 is a resonable price for the work you're having done. My guess, Infiniti would charge you double that price....

Do your oil change/rotor/pad job yourself. and save some money.

Its really easy.

Oil change_
Remove oil drain bolt. Remove oil filter. then re-install everything and put some oil in...not so hard eh?

Front brake pad/rotor.

Remove wheel. Remove two bolts holding the brake caliper. Change out the pads from the caliper.
Hammer out the old rotor and put the new one in.

....All that can be done in a hour. Maybe 2-3max for newbie, but it is a straight forward job that anyone can do.

Hope that helped.

I'd say that's a reasonable price. Would probably run you about the same where I work (chain).

That price seems reasonable.
It would definitely be cheaper if you did some of that stuff yourself.
Oil change, front pads and rotors are easy.

35 for front pads if you use autozone pads. Make sure he is using a good ceramic pad like Wagner thermal quite or better would be Akebono and have them use a good rotors napa prem is a good choice. So the guy who things he can do it for 180 good luck with that. Full syn is 50 bucks with filter. Go5 coolant is 20 bucks. that doesn't leave much room for front brakes. 445 is a fair price if he is using quality parts.

Forget the cost and you'd be better off buying the parts yourseflf and have them do the work. Catrol Syntec 0W-30 is $35 and a K&N filter is $13. Preston coolant is right about $10. If your car is an 05' or 06' with stock brakes, OEM pads is your best best. Front and rear pads will set you back about a c note at Riverside. Don't know the cost of rotors but, I'm sure they're not that high. You will be better off in the long run buying good quality parts and paying a bit more overall.

Most shops now days will not install customer parts. So you will need to check around for one that might.

Walmart sells Mobil 1 Synthetic for $25 for a 5 quart jug. I usually just buy their Fram Extraguard filter which runs about $5-$7. $30 ish in quality materials.
