So, I'm a bit torn on what to do and I was hoping you all could help persuade me.

My situation is that I'm hearing a clicking/pinging sound coming from the right side of my engine when it is at idle. My engine actually sounds quite "loose" in general and I want to take it to the dealership to get it looked at, but I'm concerned that they would say something about my spacer and deny any repair work because of it.

I'm in San Diego, so Kearney Mesa Infiniti is the closest, but I've heard of them hassling people for their mods. Riverside Infiniti is a lot further away, but their reputation for customer service is impeccable. I could just take the time to remove the spacer, but I'd rather not have to do all of that work just to get my car looked at.

So, what do I do? Do I...

A) Remove the spacer and go to Kearney Mesa
B) Drive an extra three hours to go to Riverside
C) Man up and quit bothering everyone with my petty problem

 

take the time and remove the spacer, if youre still under warranty. then take it in. do you have any loose manifold bolts? i had the same problem, but it was more of a ticking problem.

 

+1 on taking the spacer off. After you have done it once its quick the second time.

 

Alright, I'll take the safe, albeit harder, way out.
