Buying my first g35
Buying my first g35
I'm looking into buying a 2003 G35 Coupe with 121,000 kms. Comes with 20 inch VERDE rims, tinted windows, 12inch RF subs with an RF AMP and an after market touch screen pioneer deck. It's got a couple of dings on the body but I got quoted $600 to repair them and throw a bit of gloss on it to bring the black paint back out. All reg maintenance has been kept up with (including flushes).
Only performance work I have to do is replace a cracked stock exhaust pipe and get a new belt. Other than that it runs beautifully. I'm in the Toronto region and the quote is for $11,000.
Should I do it?

Bottom line....... if you can afford the car, buy it. No one on the Internet is gonna be able to give you accurate feedback without seeing the car in person. Take it to an independent mechanic and have him check it out before hand
This "bit of gloss" theyre throwing on... are they reclearing the car or what? Cuz $600 to repair dents and reclear a whole car is pretty cheap unless a friend is cutting you a deal. A $150-200 detail job will more than likely bring back the paint to new condition unless the clearcoat is peeling or bubbling.

clear coat is peeling a bit and it's got a few scratches here and there. And yes you're right I got a pretty good deal from a friend of a friend of mine here in Toronto. I'm paying cash so that's not really the issue, it's more so if a 2003 g35 coupe with kilometres (121k) is worth the $11,000.
From what youve said it sounds like the car was taken care of. A lot of people on this board freak out when they see anything over 75k miles. Cars today are made to last for 100s of 1000s of miles or kms. Just have it checked out before you buy it.
KBB has $12k(US) for a 2003 in great shape from a dealer, anywhere from $7k - $9k private party

I looked at G's for about 2 months before I got one. My observations could be quite different from others, but in this area (Tampa/Sarasota) these cars do not go anywhere near KBB price. I also have access to the dealer auction values and even at the auctions they are going at or above KBB price. So if you think the deal is good compared to the normal for the area then go with that, rather than book values.
