Introduce myself...plus tires question.
Hey guys. Just bought an 06 Coupe. Athens Blue. Absolutely love the car. I head to the track every now and then...been into cars my entire life (thanks, Dad! https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/jammin.gif) So I'll probably get to know a few of you guys as time goes on. Seems like a pretty sweet forum...good to see all of you cats here.
I'm not planning on doing too much to the car, but being a weekend warrior I definitely am interested in perfection in all aspects of the car, and of course any DIY/cheap mods. I'll certainly be doing all of the maintenance myself.
Anyway...I do actually have a specific topic: Tires.
I'm going to need a new set soon. I have a couple questions for those of you with the coupe and 19" wheels, in particular.
1 - Summer vs All Season - I completely understand and appreciate the advantages of the All Seasons. But what I don't know is how much of a performance advantage the summer tires give you. Anyone had both and have an opinion? Is it close enough such that some of the A/S tires can compete with some of the crappier summer tires? (I'm talking about on the track...but also just in overall feel and responsiveness as well) I get the gist of the differences, but I wanted to check with some G35 guys to see what the opinion on this is with respect to our particular car.
2-Which tire? I'm checking out the Continentals (Extreme Contact DW or DWS)...and that's about it so far. The others just don't seem to compare when it comes to overall value. Michelins and Pirellis are out of the question b/c of price, and the Continentals don't really seem any worse than them anyway.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
-Richie B.
PS - I'm a pretty accepting guy, but if your G has chrome wheels AND tinted windows...I might make fun of you a little.

living in the same snow belt line as me, I would recommend keeping your summers on. If its just a weekend warrior, then why step down in preformance tires to an all season tire?
But if you find a quality all season tire for the OEM 19s at a good price, then go for it.
If you were concerned about driving in the winter, you will need to consider snow tires. I also have the oem 19s that I have winter preformance tires on so I can drive when its cold and snowing. My other set of rims are for the summer and for looks.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
The Hankooks are a good choice and should be available locally to you. Another great summer tire for the price is the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Probably have to find those on the web though. performanceplustire.com is a good place to buy the Vreds.
