Re: Weird Engine Noise...

I'm glad you figured it out bro. Sometimes these noises can be a little disturbing.

Re: Weird Engine Noise...

I know the noise you're talking about. Its the throw-out bearing for the clutch. Its very common noise with RWD manual trannies. It's completely normal. Every RWD manual car I've ever owned has made the same noise with the car idling in neutral with the clutch out. Push the clutch in, and the noise disappears. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Weird Engine Noise...

It may not be completely normal! I had the same problem. I understand there was always the "normal" noise, but mine seemed way louder than others. See if you can find another to compare. Mine was more noticeable after a fairly long drive when the car was good n warm. I brought it to the dealer and they ended up having to replace my clutch b/c the pressure place busted! My noise was very audible outside the car, while it was idling. It also went away when the clutched was engaged (down to the floor), but it was very loud, sounded like marbles in a coffee can! BTW - I had about 11,500 miles on the G when I brought it in.

Re: Weird Engine Noise...

ABSOLUTELY. My dealer immediately tried pushing the blame on me making it sound like I would have to pay for it if it was over 12K. I put them right in their place and was like....back the F up!!! I have been driving stick since I was 16 (11 years now) so don't tell me It's driver error!! I got 120K out of the clutch in my Explorer so don't go there! They shut up and fixed it real quick! Just be clear that they will probably tell you its NORMAL! Have you noticed that your G seems to lack a little power. I kinda noticed mine felt sluggish before it being fixed. The clutch wasn't slipping, but it felt like the power wasn't getting to the wheels!
