changing power steering fluid

my power steering reservoir read LOW and the color seems to be black..
My car ran 49000 miles and it's 06 g35. Do i need to change the PS??
Also, what fluid is good for DD? amsoil, motul (expensive), redline(expensive)?

thx

definately change it especially if you drive it hard often. I ran with Redline fluid I think it was a type of automatic tranny fluid but it can be used for power steering as well there is a DYI from bythebay on Infinitihelp.com to get you on the right track..

Whoisthis, if my fluid was that dark I'd want to drain the whole system. This is more involved than just swapping out the P/S reservoir like I did. Try www.infinitihelp.com there's gotta be a drain plug for the P/S system so you can drain/replace all the fluid with fresh, they can tell you. G/L

idk the original color of the PS fluid but this fluid looked pretty dark to me. i just watched the vid. ia it necessary to hav or replace filter? in the vid he flushed the system with chevron atf. but can i use valvoline dexron3 long life to flush or just use this to refill the reservoir instead of amsoil? thx

Considering the cost of a new p/s rack, and it is the seals that fail I'd use the OE fluid. I wouldn't want to disturb those seals with something radically different like synthetic.... my opinion!

i just finished flushing and refilling the PS fluid. Now i'm facing a problem right now
I put all the bolts and clippers back except for 2 clippers. i CANNOT find the place for the 2 clippers...... Everything seems to be tight in place. Should i just leave the 2 clippers out? will they cause a problem?
