g35 exhaust upgrades

I just bought an 06 g35 coupe 6mt. I want to start putting in a custom exhaust and was wondering where I should start. I was thinking about starting with high flow cats and a Y pipe. I want to do the entire exhaust but I dont know which part I should upgrade first because the whole thing cost about 1500. Should I just wait to do the whole thing or should I do little by little. Which parts should I upgrade first? Also I heard if you put in headers it will kind of get rid of the rumble. I want it to sound as clean as possible and be street legal. Any feedback is much appreciated. I already have a K & N high flow filter which I might upgrade to a K @ N CAI.

I would recommed doing everything at once...dont put in headers...not worth money and cost for install unless you can do them yourself. I am actually considering selling my Motordyne VQ Exhaust....fairly cheap as well...original purchase price was 1100 shipped. You can pair it with there XYZ Y pipe for a sound like this. stock note on start up...WOT is when you really hear it!! no drone either!

look throught my Feeler For sale thread if your interested. has all of the sound clips you want.

Welcome DarkMark....!

HFC's is the best place to start, that's where most of the restriction is within the system. Headers and a y-pipe are a waste of time and $, if you want to get a aftermarket exhaust. Buying a dual exhaust system eliminates the y-pipe which is the way to go. Since you have the K&N drop in filter you need to get the Z-Tube to increase incoming air flow. This way you've eliminated the restriction on both ends....

I would start off with HFC's or test pipes with the Motordyne XYZ.

HFC's or test pipes and the XYZ are proven to make power.

yeah but an XYZ is like 600 bucks. I might as well get an invidia full exhaust system for like 1000 right?
