G35 Driver Seat Wear

I have read the numerous threads about G35 owners with abnormal wear of the driver side seat. Specifically, the bottom left bolster. My seat isn't as bad as some of the pictures I have seen but I feel that in another year or so it will be. Is there anyway I can prevent the wearing or atleast slow it down? I am extremely careful when I enter and exit the car. I have a 2004 G35 so I am out of warranty so I doubt Infiniti will fix it. Its just mind-boggling that infiniti would make a seat that breaks down so easily. My car only has 39K miles and the problem is becoming obvious. I haven't taken the car to the dealership yet because I figure they would just say it is normal wear and tear which it is clearly not since the car is hardly used. Any suggestions?

I'm sort of wondering the same thing. I have an 05 with roughly the same number of miles and my seat isn't in too bad of shape, but I hate to think of what it will look like in another 30k miles or so. I'm covered under an extended warranty for another 2 years. Right now, just using lexol leather cleaner and conditioner a couple times per year and hoping that cuts down on the leather breakdown.

I dont even think warranty would cover it. In some rare cases, they did though. You just have to do the best you can to take care of it. Even then, you're just delaying the inevitable.

Its the left side, by the handle to recline the seat. Atleast in my 04, thats where the handle is.

I am currently at medical school in DC so I can't take pictures of the seat. My car is at my uncles house in VA. The seat is in good to great condition now since the previous owner took care of it; however, I am worried about dishing out $1500 in the future to fix the seat. I am a broke first year med student that needs this car to last atleast through half of my residency lol. I guess the seat fix will be my graduation gift from my parents. So I guess leather conditioner and being extremely cautious when entering/exiting the car is the best option at this point? Maybe I can constantly harass my infiniti dealership by saying it is cheap seat construction and that it is creating back problems. Maybe take some radiographs of someone with scoliosis or a herniated disc to the dealership to threaten them?

Where'd you get $1500 from? Any good upholstery shop should be able to match the leather for less.

I heard it was $1500 from the dealership to change the entire bottom of the seat. An upholstery shop is a great idea though. Would they change the bottom foam piece that breaks down as well? I heard that was the major problem that starts breaking the leather down. Anyways, I am not gonna worry about it now since I think the seat will last me another year. I will just be careful with the seat for now.

They can def change the foam. Once they remove the old leather, you can put whatever you want in there before the re-wrap it.

A guy I know just had his seat repaired for a couple hundred bucks. The local auto upholstery shop here in Myrtle Beach matched the leather perfectly.
