Best Exhaust Bang for the Buck.
Best Exhaust Bang for the Buck.
Hey guys,
Im new to this site and new to Infiniti's. I just bought my first one (2006 G35 coupe 5at) and I have the money to start in with mods. One of the first things I want to do is an exhaust (cat back), but Im just not sure wich one will be best. Ive dont alot of youtube searching for sounds and pricing but havent pin pointed one down. Ive noticed that the Greddy SE is pretty cheap and still has a good sound for a cat back, but this is where I am turing to you guys for help!
So please leave your opions about witch exhaust will be the best bang for my buck.
Thanks,
-Sean

how much you looking to spend?
do you just want an exhaust for sound or for performance
gains?
ive had the greddy SE catback but it was to silent for my tastes.
so i sold that and got a HKS Hi Power Td and i love it. The HKS has
a very nice tone with performance you can feel

Welcome to driver sean!
The OE exhaust system is pretty nice in looks and sound. The biggest restriction in the whole system is the OE cats, they're like the cork in the bottle. If you go with HFC's (high flow cats) that would be your "best bang for the buck" you're looking for! Check out our MARKETPLACE under vendor exhaust for the best prices and reliable service. I've heard nothing but praise about the BERKS HFC's and cost w/b around $400....
Sean, there are as many opinions about exhaust systems here as there are members....that's a lot and Greddy wouldn't be on my list of choices....All dual cat back systems HKS, Stillen or MotorDyne at a cost of $1200-$1500. My idea on the HFC's just keeps getting better!

Don't lie to the guy and tell him don't get the x02 because it is cheap and "not good." You are just a name brand ***** and aren't considering the fact that you get the same performance gain and just a slightly deeper tone with the x02.
OP for exhausts don't really worry about performance as much, you will get more from changing to high flow cats or test pipes. Just choose the one which sounds/looks/is the best for your price range. Everyone prefers a different sound so go off which sounds the best to you.
Cheap knock-off with no difference ever proven in gains, many people believe the gains are essentially the same. So you are paying for a tiny bit better build quality (nicer welds) and slightly better looking tips, which can be easily changed, oh and of course the name brand.

See what I mean Sean, some of our members actually sound angry but no one has had more systems on their G35s than I. I still believe that your best bet is with the HFC's since you will have removed the biggest restriction in the exhaust system and it will still sound great....

well yes, the brand name exhausts for these cars are better obviously but i am impressed with the x02 as is tons of others who have it. yes the fitment could have been better as far as tip placement, but its all good with a lil heating/bending of the left tailpipe...in my case. remember, some of us aren't loaded and cant throw stacks down on cars like others.....
The build quality sucks, the fitment needs work, it rusts if you expose it to the elements, it's a blatant rip-off from a reputable company, and you need to buy tips separately just to make it look passable. Why would I recommend something like that? Sorry I don't put trash on my car, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else do either.
Oh and if you complain it's a rip off, open your eyes is called business and it's done EVERYWHERE. The first generation of x02's were trashy I will agree, then newer versions are much nicer and aren't anywhere near "trash". But go ahead and keep saying x02 is trash and promoting HKS where you pay over $1k for the same gains as something that is $300.
edit: In any case I don't mean to bash HKS exhaust at all, it is a great system just for that price range I feel there are better options such as motordyne or fast intentions. But once again this totally depends on the OP and his price range and his tastes in exhaust tones.

if i had the extra buck for one, i'd choose the Injen SES exhaust that my boy had on his Z. love the flared tips that angle out and i put cat-delete pipes on it and it sounded like a beast. that, or single exhaust.......
i understand the part of name brand stuff. its real deal....blajeblajebla. if i could afford every single thing and not worry bout finding the best price for this and that.....i would. but some of the cheaper stuff is close to comparison these days.
