if i have my car re-tinted, i'm going to go 5% all the way around with 50% on the windshield... makes it sooo much harder to see in (good for having a girl in the car, or for security purposes)

as for seeing out at night: it is impossible. I have 35% on my car now (how i bought it) and i still roll my windows down when backing up, so it would make no difference... the 5% would actually be nice if a big truck is driving behind you with annoying non-projector HIDs

beware if you're thinking about windshield tint, however. if you accidentally hit and kill someone, you may be charged with manslaughter

^^windshield tint is legal in South Carolina??

It took them forever to make front window tints legal in Illinois and you can only have 30 front 50 back or 35 all around. But I got 35 on the front and limos on the back windows, cops don't give a **** about tints anymore since they made it somewhat legal (they're not gonna bother actually pulling someone over to measure the light transmittance).

20% up front windows with 5% on the back is the way to go

Lol i literally do the same with mine. I'm running 5% all but front windshield. I absolutely love the privacy, how it makes cars with bright lights due to crap hids or not much more bearable, and the look (at least on dg) is absolutely ridiculously amazing.

But then again visibility is a big compromise and it takes a lot of time to get used to and learn how to deal with.

And to the person who asked about cali tint laws, no tint on front windows, much less windshield.

I wanted to get my wind shield tinted also, but remember in the end its tint. Depending on the quality of the tint overtime it can turn purple, bubble, etc. I wouldn't risk having those issues on my windshield.

As for cops I have had limo tint on my car's for about 5 years now (Tampa, Florida), with no questions asked from any cop. I took my previous car on a trip to texas for 4 days and I got pulled over for tint (5% all the way around).

I've had 5% in rears and 15% on pass & driver side windows.
It is difficult to see at night if you're backing up but I def loved it when driving on the freeway at night.
It completely filters out the other drivers headlights.
I got pulled over twice in 4 months on the SoCal freeways for speeding and lane change but ended up just getting fixit tickets for my tints.
In a way my tinted windows saved my ***.
I retinted the fronts to 35%, but couldn't stand it so I eventually went 20% up front and looks muuuch better.
You can click on "my garage" to see the 15 % tints.
Gotta a link to cardomain too.

I go to school in los angeles and my permanent address is in chicago. the tint laws are 70% in cali and 100% in illinois -_-. I stupidly went for 50% which is pretty much.. nothing. Anyway, even with 50% the light diffuses off the lines in the back windshield. I hate it.

wait a minute. Night Ryda are you sure that tints are legal in illinois? weird. h-uh.

anyway. you wanna do funny stuff in your car? go ahead. just roll the window down when they pull you over and they might not give you a ticket.

Yup like I said 30% front 50% rear or 35% all around. But I had already put limos on the rear before they passed the law so I just took a risk and put 35% on the front after they passed it..besides, we drive a luxury sports car so cops don't care about us as they would with an 85 Caprice on 24s with limos all around.

Thats only when they wanna give you a ticket for tints, not because they wanna pull you out and search the **** outta you thinking you're a dope dealer.

Limo tint....way to dark, stick with the 20% or check with the tint laws in your area/state.

I have double limo (5%) on every window. I have 15% on the entire windshield and 5% strip. It is hard to see at night but u get used to it and I love the fact no one can see me or those photo radar pictures appear as tho no one is driving the car!

Ive had 5, 10, 15 and 30% tint on my old cars. Now I have 20% on my coupe. I think its perfect. Its not too dark and not too light. You can still see me in the car but just a silhouette. Anything under 20% I had to lower my windows to park the car. Sucks when its raining lol.
