that RX7 in the video that whole incident had nothing to do with loose lug nuts... it was the type of lugnuts he bought, bought the wrong ones, something to do with the wrong thread, (not sure if thread is the right word) I remember reading the owner write something like that on the RX forums.

What should the lugs be tightened to ft/lbs wise? What about wheel spacers? This would suck!

From: LB NY, Currently Socorro, NM. HELP ME!!!
i was helpin my buddy out with his brakes(nissan frontier), and i had to run out to pick some stuff up. he finished up, and when i got back we went to grab food. i was behind him, we were on a road goin about 60ish when his front driver side hit the ground and the tire flew off. went accross the median, hit a rock and launched like 15 feet into the air into oncomming traffic. swiped the side of one car, then ran off the other side of the road. luckily noone was hurt... turns out he hand tightened them, but forgot to tighten them with a wrench...

Wheel lug nightmare, only happened once to me and that was once to often. Having new struts installed on my TransAm a few years ago, left the shop and by the time I reached the street both front wheels popped off damaging both front fenders and my custom front bumper. That was the only time in my life when I went totally nuckingfuts. Picked up the lugs and threw them at the so-called mechanic.... Tork wrench could have solved the problem!
