Ticking Sound - Underneath Car... ???
Confused with a ticking sound underneath the car. It sounds like water turning to steam right away - flash boiling - and gives that siss siss siss sound for a few seconds.
No rain/wetness underneath. Coming from underneath the driver seat area under the car.... Is this a normal issue???
ANY HELP?
2005 AT Coupe 70k.
Thx

Honestly I don't beat on it. The sound comes on after some miles of driving and it's noticeable for a few moments after shutdown.... Like water searing on a pipe or something.
There are no foul (or sweet/coolant) odors. Underhood looks fine. Oil looks fine.
Will keep hunting. Really weird sound though, it also happens when driving in and out of throttle... it's consistent - not melodic...

I have the same noises after shutdown its just the metal of the exhaust contracting as it cools

my car does this too! It sounds like a drops of water hitting a hot pipe repeatedly. "tsss tsss tsss tsss.." Ive never heard it on any of my other rides. I am used to hearing the exhaust and other metal parts contracting as they cool but this sounds completely different. No leaks or anything unusual to report other than that noise though. No harm no foul? haha
Yea I heard this also which I think is normal. Heard it after I installed test pipes n hks. Never had a leak... Usually would happen at idle after some miles of driving. Its very faint though you'd have to REALLY listen for it.
do you have a hiss. Mine hiss when i installed test pipes. If i gas it and when the rpms are coming down it hisses?

Is your Air Conditioning on? This could be the water sweating off the refridgerent lines or the accumulator. The water drops off and may be hitting your exhaust manifold or the exhaust pipes. Try driving around with it off and see if it makes a difference.
Oh well if its normal were good
