Question Transmission Fluid in Engine? what ??

I was talking to a mechanic and he got into a story about how he accidentally put half a quart of transmission fluid into the engine, But worry not he said it cleans the engine internals. I forgot if he did this before changing the oil or after.

True or False if it cleans the engine or just damages it ?

thanks

It wont damage it....same concept as seafoam, i do it on my toyota pickup every year. Let it suck the tranny fluid through the brake booster, let it sit for about 15 mintutes, then go drive, smokes alot, but it helps break the carbon deposits loose from the valves and rings.

I would use seaform for the G since it is less viscous than tranny fluid and it wont foul up your plugs as much. I use tranny fluid on my toyota truck because its carbed and doesnt have OBD II so it wont throw a check engine light. Seaform will be better.

I don't think auto tranny fluid in the oil will necessarily foul the plugs more/less than seafoam would. Seafoam will only get smokey when you feed it directly into the engine like you said.

But I have to believe the OP is talking about putting the tranny fluid into the crankcase, not feeding it into the intake manifold. As it's almost impossible to accidently do this action. But I can see him accidently putting a 1/2 quart of tranny fluid into the engine's crankcase though. Probably not the best thing but 1/2 quart probably won't do any damage short term.

Okay but I'm confused. How does he prepare to do something that deliberate and then proceed to put a fluid he didn't intent to in the vacuum tube in the intake?

In the whole scheme of things though, it's okay to do that. I mean in the , "as long as he doesn't hyrolock the motor" type of okay

I've heard of doing this like 1 day or 2 before an oil change, the additive package from the tranny fluid is supposed to clean up the engine. I'm not going to try it. If it was after the oil change I'd want it changed again.

Sorry I'm not buying this story! How does a trained mechanic accidently put anything into a car, no sorry I'm not buying the story and that's what it is....

Before I seafoamed my G, my old *** neighbor told me he used to clean his cars engines with tranny fluid. Probably not as safe on a newer car as seafoam is, but it does the same thing.

No, not pouring it in the oil, putting it directly throug the rake booster, so it enters the combustion chamber.

Are you serious? Have you seen some of the guys that work at dealerships? Not exactly highly trained professionals.

My experience is that you get 1-2 really good mechanics in a shop and the rest of the guys are average or below average.

we do this in the shop with cars that are sludged up. i just put a quart of maticD in, its pretty much the same as an engine flush. youd be surprised how much of the sludge this will clean up. you can leave it in for a few days of driving or until your next oil change. wont hurt anything. wont do nothing to the plugs as it is in the OIL. i would just stick with seafoam for shootin through the intake tho.
