Which Escort? 8500 or Solo S2?
I really like the cordless aspect of the Solo S2.
But i'm hearing too many good things about the 8500 to drop it.
I want people's feedback. I respect people's opinions here than CNET or BiasedResponses.com
What's your vote people?

The Solo S2 and the Passport 8500 offer the same performance/features, the Solo S2 is just the cordless version. Personally, I have the Passport 8500 X50 and I would just stick with the corded version. With the Solo S2, you're doomed to changing batteries for the life of the detector and even though the Solo S2 is super conservative with battery life, as with any batter-powered device, as the battery life lessens, the performance lessens.
Just get the Passport 8500 X50 and get the hard-wire kit and have somebody profesisonally do the install. I did this setup and there are no exposed wires at all and I have the mute button located on the left of my shift ****.

I agree with MrElussive,
I wouldn't count on a battery powered device to perform the same as a corded version. Something just tells me it won't be as good.
If you are concerned with wires tangling around, take a look at my install - was pretty simple and took me about half hour to complete.

8500 is all good. Don't worry about the cordless feature. Me and my buddies hide our cords real well. So well you can't see the cord. I'll try to take a pic to see if you like it. just send me a PM to remind me.

8500, forget the solo... very minimal power... and when the battery power gets weak.. you'll get weak signal.
