i've read reviews about the poor shifters in nissans, but i love the precision of the shifting whilst driving my car.
but yea, sometimes if i'm moving and i dont rev match i can't get into first gear.
the thing i really dont like is the drive by wire GRRR
and you can't really compare shifting to a honda, they're soo butter smoooooth.

Most Reverse gears are MUCH easier to get into if you first put it into 1st gear then into reverse. It helps to sychronize reverse. My goes right in after that

If you let your clutch out in neutral and let your engine drop back to idle, your tranny input speed has slowed significantly, and when you put it into gear there's a large speed discrepancy so your synchros are working harder to match the speed, making it harder to put in gear.

On thing to keep in mind:
My friend is a Nissan Master Tech and he said that they do tranny fluid changes with the bulk fluid they have in the shop--it is 5 weight off from the recommened OEM weight (I forget in which direction).
When he put this in my car, my shifter was really hard to engage--especially when cold. We swapped back in the recommended OEM fluid and it was perfect again right away. I do have a JWT clutch and flywheel, so, I'm not sure if this magnified the problem since he said they use the standard shop fluid in Z's all the time.
Long story short--if you've had your fluid changed at the shop, make sure they are using correct OEM weight fluid!

You have to blip the throttle up before you push the clutch down, or else blipping your throttle would only rev up the engine speed not the tranny input.

Yes, my 6mt sometimes feels a little notchy. I have learned to live with it. Nothing you can do to fix it. Nissan manual transmissions aren't smooth.
The only thing I hate is the high engagement point. I can live with the notchyness but the high-engagement point sucks big time.
And yeah, my old S2k shifted very smoothly. In the G35, you have to TRY REALLY, REALLY, HARD and FOCUS to make sure you shift smoothly w/o giving your passenger neck trauma.

there is this one hairpin turn that comes off of a cart track at my local auto ross course, and second gear is a little bit to high and long. but i use it anyways. i was just saying that it would be nice if there were syncros for first gear, atleast for this situation. but in daily driving i rarely even have to downshift into 2nd when taking a turn for example.
