Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 in 6MT

Hello,

I was looking through the forum and was getting mixed reviews of whether Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 is compatible in our 6MT. On the Amsoil website it does say it is GL-4 compatible. Does anybody have a review of using this oil in there transmission? Also, does anyone know where I could buy these cheap with free shipping? I am located in Los Angeles, CA. Thanks.

I was going to use Amsoil in my tranny, but after doing the same research as you, I decided to just use the OEM dealer gear oil since our trannies are very finicky and the recommended weight is actually an odd weight in between the 2 common gear oil weights for manual tranny gear oil. That weight isn't available from anyplace that I know of other than the dealer... but some people have mixed the 2 gear oils together to get something similar to that.

Personally, I'd rather play it safe than sorry when it comes to my tranny, so I just went to Nissan and bought a few quarts of the manual tranny fluid for a 350Z and put that in my car. It's a lot cheaper than buying the same stuff from Infiniti.

Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4 for my tranny and will do the change this weekend. I hear nothing but good things about Amsoil for our cars ohhh dont use Red line I have heard of sticky gears after.

I've used Redline before in other vehicles. It works great at first but the oil shears after about 5 or 6 months and gets really thin, resulting in tougher shifting. I haven't noticed the same effect with Amsoil.
