I'm just curious, because I'm planning on tinting up my DG coupe windows soon...

I was thinking 35% all around (except windshield of course)... what have you guys done?

See whats legal first in your state if you actually care about that? For me its 35% all around and I love that look. Not too dark to catch notice but helps keep the car cooler while still making it tough to see you in the car. You'll get a lot of opinions on types of tint to be used. Good luck with your decision.

It depends on the state, in Florida you can only have 35% on the sides, and 15% on the back, but i've never gotten any hassle about it...if/when i do it again, i'll be getting 5% all around...

Huper Optik 40% here. It's lighter than normal film tint, but it's dark enough for me. I might even be willing to go down to 30% at some point, but the 40% is perfect at night.

I went 35% all the way around and looks good to me, 20% I think would have attracted too much attention and I didn't feel like having to retint my windows every month. I'm in Cali. and its illegal to have anything on the front side windows. With graphite interior 35% also looks like 20% on a car with light interior.

I got 30 sides and 15 back on my DG '04. With the graphite interior, it's still pretty hard to see inside the car, but I didn't want tint that would make it a pain in the **** to see out of at night from the sides.

My pics could give you an idea of what it will look like on your DG.

I live in NJ and I got 38%...it looks good but if I had to go it again I would go to 30%

Question - how big a deal is it to remove and reapply the tint?

 

I did 15% all around. I think it looks great. Not too dark either. You can see in a lot more than you think. Especially here in FL where the sun usually shines when there aren't freaking hurricanes.

Feel free to look through my pics. I went with 20% tint all around except windshield and feel that it was the right choice for me. Here in NY, I think 30% is the limit (maybe 35%), but it is just too light for me, especially on black. I have graphite interior which makes the tint appear a little darker.

 

in new york since 1992 NO tint other than what comes from factory is allowed on the front two windows , if you have side mirrors you can tint the back windows as dark as you want. On my maxima I have 15% all around, I got a ticket once and just ended up paying it since the ticket was only $60

to be more technical, 70 percent on the front/rear side windows is the NY limit, but yeah that's pretty much the factory tint at most.

I have 30 percent, cops have seen me, and haven't bothered me one bit. It just depends on your area I guess
