Just had this same thing happen to me in my 03 G35 AT coupe. No remote access from the remote or the switch beside the steering wheel. Not even a click. I did try turning car engine off and on. Maybe fuse? Is there a way to reset the security system or manually disarming all anti-theft? Does the trunk release have its own fuse?

Anyone got pic of this strap? Am going back out to my car here shortly to try this as my lunch was in my back pack.

Was able to get in with emergency release strap. Would be nice to put that tidbit of info in the manual somewhere. Still interested in troubleshooting malfunctioning of the wired and wireless remote control.

I had the same problem the other day with groceries melting in the 110 degree Texas sun. Really a buzz kill for these cars...
I tried reprogramming the keyless transmitters to the car again, checked every fuse, everything short of physically removing the back seat before finding that strap hidden away between the back and bottom seats. I came to the conclusion that the wiring harness that runs into the trunk lid must have a crappy wire and eventually rubbed something enough to create some sort of short or open circuit since the button under the dash wouldn't even get the actuator to attempt to engage. I had an equally difficult electrical problem with my old BMW and the trunk harness rubbing on the boot ended up being the culprit. Sometimes it'll cause electrical problems with other circuits, worth looking into if you have the time and sense enough to fix it. I haven't been able to get the boot pulled off and check this theory, but it sounds like a common problem after researching the other day when I had the issue. Still happens intermittently (maybe once a month), but I leave that little red tag sticking out and just hop to the emergency release latch.
Let me know if you pull the boot though, pictures of the problem are rare it seems like and it would be nice to see it before it bothers me enough to fix mine!

I will have to find fuse box and check. To have both methods of opening now failiung makes me thing fuse or the release solenoid itself. Do those ever go bad? Maybe the trunk release is on its own fuse. Will have to ck it out. Admittedly, I dont even know where fuse box is
