I cleaned my cats/fuel injectors etc. today with sea foam and i fed it through a tube into my intake....well i let it run for about 20 min or so and in about the 15 minute range my service engine soon light came on....i'm wondering if it's just bc it might have run over some sensors and if re-setting it by disconnecting the battery would work or what...jw if anyone else has had this problem.
Well, you have 3 spots to put it in. You can put it into the gas tank, into the oil, and into the brake booster line, or any other vacuum line that goes straight into the engine. Where exactly did you put yours into?
Hellz yeah it works. You put a full can in your gas tank, 1/3 can in the brake booster line, another 3rd can in your oil, and save the other 1/3 can. You can only drive with it in your only for like 250 miles, so an oil change within a week of doing it is a MUST. But putting it in your oil is not mandatory. What I did was wait til your gas tank is empty, then put your saved 1/3 can into your brake booster line again. The Seafoam in your engine will leave faster than the seafoam in the gas, and in turn will cycle the junk in your gas tank back into your engine/intake. So cleaning your engine/intake a 2nd time is a good idea.

Ha people are making suggestions to do this and no one has answered the original question about the service light.
Is this service light the check engine light? Check the car for DTC's. When you flush the carbon out of your valves/pistons (depending on how much is built up), it can clog the converters or even make oxygen sensors go bad. I did this to a vehicle I had and the night I did it some of the exhaust piping blew off right before the cat. It was completely clotted up (the car did have an exhaust leak due to some rust before, but that just topped it off).

Just try resetting the ECU and see if that helps. It may have just triggered it from all the stuff that came out. If you are handy take your O2 sensors out and see if they got gunked up from seafoaming. i did mine at 73k and had no issues.

HAHAH yeah about the DTC ...i have a story about that...i went back to advanced auto to ask the guys if they could use their OBD2 scanner and tell me what my DTC's were...WELL i guess a girl asking that question was intimidating or they didn't care bc they didn't do it...they were pretty blank when i asked...so i went home disconnected my battery after installing a new intake my b/f and i designed and all is well with the G.
