I'm considering trading in my 02 325xi for a G35 6MT coupe and had a couple of questions.

I'm from Wisconsin, and I don't think it's possible for me to get a beater for the winter so I was wondering how well it rides in snow (with snow tires)

I've read a bunch of posts regarding which tires to get and what not, but haven't really found a consensus on what will work with a 6MT (since they have the brembos IIRC)

In regards with the tires, where do you guys get your tires changed (and about how much is it) Also, if I go with 17" tires, will that mess up with the speedometer/ odometer stuff since the regular tires are 18.

Also on the same boat, would it be worth it to go with the 2005 model? I haven't read much on the new model, but it doesn't seem to have too much of a change.

The 6mt, by all accounts rides as well as any rear driver car in the winter WITH snow tires, but is a death trap without them.

The different size wheels should not have an effect on your speedo or odometer since the circumference of the tires should be the same, hence why larger wheels haver lower profile tires.

There is more HP in the 2005 and a new aluminum interior, the biggest change for you would be the discontinuation of the Brembo brakes. If you have your heart set on them, then buy an 04 before they're all gone. If you don't mind the extra wait (6MT's wont be released to January) then go with the 05.

I went with the 05, mostly because financially it makes sense to wait. The only change I lament from the 04's is the loss of the Brembos, but imho everything else is a little more upscale and nicer than what the 04 brings.

But like i said if you're a sporty driver, the loss of the brembos are big and only you can decide how important they are.

also, you should have more choice of 17in wheels with the brembos gone in the 05's but that is of course up to you.
