For those who have ordered an '05 already

for those who have ordered an '05 coupe or sedan already, i'm confused about how the whole process is. before putting down the deposit, did you guys discuss the price at all? if not, does the negotiation occur only after the car arrives? i plan on getting an '05 coupe, but i'm waiting for the pricing info on the new coupes. but of course, i know that this will delay the ordering/deliver date of my order. i just want to have all the pricing/negotiation down before i put down the deposit.

Re: For those who have ordered an '05 already

I put my money down on July 31st for an 05 6MT. The reason I felt comfortable doing it then is because I am eligible for VPP pricing. Therefore if VPP pricing is available on the 05's (which it should be since its not a major redesign) My pricing will be set and I will not have to do any negotiation.

In the event that VPP is not allowed, negotiation will occur once pricing is released. Also, since the deposit is fully refundable, if I decide the cost is just too much, I lose nothing.

If you are not eligible for VPP then you have to decide how much you want the car, if you are willing to pay for it go ahead and put the money down now and "get in line" for your car, but if you're on a very tight budget work with your dealer to see if it is viable for you to put a deposit down.

I have heard reports from several dealers that the increase should be anywhere from 500-1000 dollars max.

However you will find very few if any dealers that are willing to give you a set price before pricing is actually released.. you have to decide how imprtant that is to you to know before you put down $500 on a deposit.

I've put my money down on an '05. I've agreed to a number that is $1000 over the '04 MSRP (just to arrive at a number). When infiniti releases the pricing on the '05, then we will adjust the price accordingly.

I'm payint exactly what the MSRP will be. I wouldn't expect anybody to get under MSRP if you are pre-ordering a car - in fact, i would expect paying a premium.

due to all the changes, i would think that it would be difficult to negotiate a price under msrp. since i had purchased my '03 coupe from the same dealer, i'm hoping to get a bit of a discount. therefore, i'm hoping to get maybe the clearbra and other accessories thrown in for free.

Re: For those who have ordered an '05 already

i ordered my 04 on the last day dealers were able to place orders in june 03. we thought it was to be an 03. few weeks later we found out it was to be an 04. when i negotiated my deal, we locked a price. prices went up 250 over prior year, but dealer did not pass it on.

not sure if that is standard or just a good dealer. 250 to a dealer isn't worth as much as a super happy customer who spreads good words about them and would use them again.

oh, it was douglas infiniti in summit NJ

04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

In this enviroment I would wait for a discount even on the 05. The 05 sedan has been delayed because of too many 04's on the lot. There will be deals for under MSRP on 05 sedans before November.
