My first post... Glad to be part of the community

Just got a 04 infiniti coupe with 52k miles on it. Had it checked by fairly reputable shop, and 2 days after driving and testing my car I find plyers in engine bay. I guess the mechanic left it there and now I'm wondering if there could be anything else that fell into the engine bay . I suppose there is no easy way to check ?

Another question for you guys. I know it's a performance car but how bad is it flooring gas on automatic transmission ? I did it once or twice just to test the car since I got it and don't intend to do it anymore in the future, but does it put alot of pressure on transmission and engine? Also how bad would it be downshifting 1 gear when going at highway speed (tiptronic) ?

And one last question, Even though when the whole climate system is set to off, I see the light on 'fresh air' button. When I press it nothing happens. Is this by design ?

Thanks

I floor my G all the time haha.

Edit: My bad, just re-read your post... It's not bad to down shift at all. It's what you're supposed to do if you want to accelerate faster. Just don't redline. It's pretty hard to mess up your transmission using tiptronic...

Sweet. What did you pay for the car, if you don't mind me asking.

Were the pliers near anything that you could have potentially done damage to or did they fall down in the front bumper?

welcome man! I just got car few months back, love it so far. I found a detailing sponge in my engine bay and a tampax in my glovebox when i did a close inspection of my car haha I also listened to the bluetooth phone options and theprevious owner still had her setup in there. As for your climate system, I believe your assumption is correct. I usually have my climate system off on my 06 6mt and the fresh air vent light is still lit

I live in Canada and I paid 18.7k CAD + tax. In the US I could probably get 06 for that price. So with conversion rates we're probably looking at 17.7k + 7% tax USD. Anyway the car is in very good condition, the mechanic agreed that it was never winter driven. I could have easily got something for 15.5k, but the condition and mielage is not comparable. Hope this is OK deal as our tax is going up to 13% next month.

It was just sitting on the side where the battery is, closer to the headlights. They are heavy so I got lucky. But something like a screwdriver would easily fall into the engine bay

Well, at least you got a free pair of pliers. The automatic transmissions are reliable. I don't like to floor mine in "D" mode just because the tranny is trying to do too many things at once, IMO using tiptronic in those situations is better for it. You can also spend some money and upgrade the valve body (Transgo) which will increase its life span and reduce shifting lag.

Finding pliers would freak me out too... and don't worry about flooring it occasionally, as long as it's not at every light, you'll be fine.
