Correct usage of VDC

Can I switch between VDC on or off while driving? I was told that you have to turn off the engine and then activate or deactivate it.

When I shut my VCD off it dosen't kick in.

u dont need to shut the car down
just press it and its off

The VDC is computer controlled. You can turn it on/off at any time you desire. When you shut down the car and restart, the VDC will always reset itself to be on, just in case you forget and actually need it.
