^Yes, the MD spacer is one of the best mods for your 5AT.

Cheers guys!!
Sorry I was so harsh. When a new member comes to Driver and shows a lazy, "I don't car about my car" attitude I get grumpy because for the most part this site is made up of enthusiasts that probably love our cars more than we should. You obviously aren't one of those people and I pre-judged you on your initial comment.

Let me officially say welcome to the family and accept my apology for being a d!ck. You will learn a lot about your car here and probably spend way too much money as you do. The mod bug is a bitch!!

Some people feel gains, others don't. It depends on how acute your sense of power of your car is and how much you deem to be substantial. It is one of the best bolt on mods for power available, let's just put it that way. And true, the stock intake, especially a revup box, is most likely the best intake for power.

That's because all AT's are non-revup.

so guys im no noob but im not claiming to be an expert, just trying to mod a decent car. So my question is that with every mod ones makes on a given car its obviously to make peak hp, like full exhaust or headers. So i was thinking that gaining power on the track or a street situation would be good, but ure daily driving will suffer, mostly in throttle response and low end torque.
This may not be true for every mod but it is for most. Its a give and take situation in most cases. Like larger diameter piping will benefit the extra high end reving, but back pressure will suffer in the process.

Now with all that said i would like to know about the plenum spacer. What does it do besides lowering the air temperature coming in. I know cooler air = denser air = more power. But what i want to know is there any negative affect like loosing throttle response and power down low witch is very important to my daily driving, witch is most of the driving i do. I do some tracking on the weekend, but not enough.

What im saying in the end is that if there is any power lost anywhere on the power band, especially in the lower than i might reconsider this mod, but from what ive been reading its good , i just need confirmation on this cause it will be my first mod on this car. thx.

^Go with the 5/16 spacer over the 1/2, that will be more suited for power over the more usable range. If you have a revup engine look into the mrev2, that gives great power over the powerband. If you do some searching you can find posts from motordyne reps on here and they have a lot of dyno results showing where you get changes in power. Also a lot of their dynos are from members who bought their products and got them dyno tested at different shops, so the ability of a manufacturer to manipulate results is removed. If you have more questions about the spacers or other md mods I would pm one of the reps yourself, they will tell you everything you need.

I was in the same situation you're in. I spend like 80% of my time driving in the low rpms, so i wanted mods that would increase the performance in that range.

The MD plenum spacer is meant to increase the ammount of air going through the plenums. The stock plenums are too...."close" together on the inside, so by vertically increasing the space in between them with the spacer, more air passes through. Now, the difference between the 5/16" and the 1/2" spacer isn't that big, but the 5/16" is meant to help in the lower-mid RPMs. I don't recall the spacer losing any power at any rpm.

Next I got the MD TDX exhaust. Although it is a 3" exhaust, the primary tubes are 2.5" which taper to 3" after the resonator specifically to prevent losing low end power.

Lastly i got the MD ART pipes. Incase you haven't read about them yet, they're torque monsters in the low-mid range which is perfect for me. Overall, i gained about 10hp/24tq going from my hfc's to my art pipes in the low-mid range, while still gaining some power in the upper range.
