How do you install it incorrectly if you have a manual? is there a way to bypass your car lurching forward if you have it in gear?

I want to install a remote start on my car, but I have a manual, so I thought it was illegal or something.

I've got one on my MT, not sure what brand, and you have to set it for it to work, e-brake on, foot off brake, not in gear take the key out and the car keeps running until you get out and shut the door then it shuts off and locks the doors automatically. When you use the remote to start just get in and put the key in before touching the pedals, but you can only set it to remote start if you have the remote in the car. The only thing that sucks is that if you have to unlock the doors you have to go through the setting process for it to work. I don't use it in the summer and just switch remotes and it just like it wasn't there.

Thats the one I have. $430 installed by an authorized dealer. 1 mile remote start range plus a kill switch. I got the shock sensors raised to almost the highest setting, the slightest bump with your fist will set that *********er off.

mmm...doesn't that defeat the purpose of the remote start a little?

I would want it for the purposes of letting the car warm-up while the air conditioner or heater runs to level off the temperature.

I probably wouldn't want to use the remote start if I had to be in the car before the car started. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your explanation.

You have to set it the way I described before you get out and as long as you don't unlock the doors you can remote start it the next time you're ready to drive. Its a safety thing so the system knows that its OK to bypass the clutch.

I've got a Clifford 50.5x in my work truck and I'm not a huge fan of it. I don't think my next system will be a DEI product - too many little bugs and issues and their remote quality is crap now.

My alarm, at cost, was around $200. If you are looking to buy one and have it installed look to spend over $400 on the alarm and anywhere from $3-600 to have it installed depending on options.

A few tips - these cars have P/NP switches that electronically tell the ECU when the tranny is in Neutral. This can be used to safely remote start the car (and prevent the car from starting in gear). It's much better then the "remote start routine" you have to do everytime you get out of the car.

When hooking up OEM arm/disarm and lock/unlock run the wires inside the door. This will cost a little more in labor but you'll be able to remotely raise and lower the windows with the aftermarket keyfob with no other parts (extended (-) triggers on the lock/unlock wires raise/lower the windows). Many people skip this step then end up paying more to add the window feature in later.

There are two starter wires on the G - if you don't hook them both up the car won't start correctly when it is cold outside. I still don't know exactly why this is, but this is a common problem across all Nissan vehicles.

Other then running the wires in to the doors (which is a pain) the installation on the non Ikey cars is pretty straight forward.

I installed mine couple months back. I just tried to start it this morning when temperature outside was above 0, the problem was, only work for 5 sec and the car turned off by itself. Works fine wen it's warm but don't work in cold. I'm bring it in to have it fixed. I believe the tech didn't hook up the cold starter wire. idiots..
