Question Kinetix Plenum Seal Problem...Help!

I just got a kinetix plenum and I am having trouble making a seal. I tried a new gasket and the car would barely start. So I tried to use RTV to make the seal and it was better but there is still a slow leak and the idle is up and down and it slowly bogs to a stall.

Any ideas on what the problem might be? I was thinking the plenum is warped because it didn't work with a brand new gasket and I made sure to do a good job with the RTV.

Any info would be a great help.

Thanks,
Nick

Take a straight edge to the flange of the plenum to see if its true. Are you sure you got all your vacuum lines connected?

Yeah they are all connected. Everything is good it just slowly leaks and loses power from idol. I will try the stright edge thing and if that is it, I think the Plenum is under warenty. Any ideas of what else it may be?

Spray carburetor cleaner around the flange and all your vacuum lines to see if your idle changes, if it does, try to isolate when the RPM changes as to where you spray the carb cleaner, once you do that you found your problem

No but its because the engine bogs out and that is pretty loud. I tried to feel for a leak but it just might be really small. Thats y im thinking its warped in some spot. I guess i have to just test it with a stright edge and then I can go from there.

Let me know how the carburetor cleaner trick works out for you, you will be able to find the leak that way

Make sure there's no cracks/gaps in the cork gasket, I would also check the plugs on the left side of the plenum.

Check the MAF as well to make sure it is clean and firmly seated in the housing. Did you by chance bump the throttle body hard or move the butterfly plate with it off the car? Did you disconnect the battery before you unplugged the TB? It's possible you need to do the idle air volume learning procedure.

Make sure that the rubber surrounding the oil filler tube has not gotten pinched between the upper and lower plenums.

Call kinetix and see if they will warranty it. If not you can always do their upgrade for $100 and get a new one from them. If you're lucky you might even get it for free..
