Trying VDC off for the 1st time-WOW!
I tried for the first time since I bought the car few months ago to drive with the VDC off and what a transformation!
I only did city driving but every start was more successful, quicker, especially when starting on a hill and immediately making a turn. In the past, I guess when I accelerated too fast in similar conditions, the VDC activated and killed the speed which was annoying.
I am intending to have VDC on for highway driving, though.

Re: Trying VDC off for the 1st time-WOW!
regarding snow, you have to have the vsc off to try to get moving with the summer tires (or else it just bogs down), but turn it back on once you get moving. Doing donuts is fun, but if you try that with the vsc on you can feel the brakes kill all the fun even if you just turn the wheel hard.

Don't drive in snow on pilot sports, or a loved one will be posting about your death!
And becareful with VDC off, you can lose control quicky with this car!

doorbell
when your VDC light comes on it means that its off?
Or are you saying that your VDC light comes when you're actually slipping with it off?

very first post i read on this forum back in early 03(cant find that post now ), was a guy making an right trun at light and he decide to trun the vdc off (guess he was try to impress his passengers), he hit a puddle of water in middle of the trun, instade of right trun, the G made an 180, the tail came all the way around, and the rear left wheel smash into the curb! the wheel was bend to 45 degrees and damaged few other parts as well, so becarefull driving G with vdc off.

when "vdc off" light came on is when you trun the vdc off and it stays on till next time you start your car, when "slip" light blinking is when the sensors senses the wheel are silping.

Re: Trying VDC off for the 1st time-WOW!
I had a similar experience when I turned my VDC off (although I'm not the guy limeg35 is talking about). I spun out and smashed my car into a curb and the left rear wheel was bent inwards. $4,500 worth of damage (no body damage, needed a new wheel, new spring and shock absorber, new left rear axle rod, and some other minor [censored]). Basically, this car lives to be tail-happy if you haven't discovered this on your own, so just be super careful with what you do.
Anyways, here's how VDC works:
By default (every time you start your car), VDC is on. No lights are anything like that let you know that the system is on...it's just always monitoring your vehicle by default. When rear wheel slippage (or any wheel slippage for that matter) occurs, VDC will kick in and the light will blink, showing you that the system is working. When you push the "VDC OFF" button, the VDC light will illuminate and stay lit. This is a warning, basically the car trying to say "hey traction control is off so watch it buddy". Now if you rev it up and drop the clutch, your rear wheels will spin freely, the system will not intervene if it detects any kind of slippage (whether you gassed it too hard from a stop on a wet road, or you're taking a turn too fast and you start entering a power-slide).
I read somewhere that when you hit "VDC Off" you don't fully turn the system off, it just greatly increases the "threshold" of when VDC will intervene. I don't think this is true because I have tested and played around with the traction control extensively, and when you hit "VDC Off", the system is definitely completely off....not saying this as a good or bad thing, take it as you will, just saying to becareful!
