I had read in the latest article from Car & Driver that they turned off the traction control in their G35 coupe and the car was still giving them a hard time (like the electronics was interfering) when they'd attempt to spin the wheels.

My question is.. If the VDC is turned off.. does this also kill the traction control?

or Is the traction control separately controlled?

I test drove a G35 coupe most recently and will buy one without a doubt... but at the same time. I don't remember a separate switch for the traction control?

 

There is a switch right next to the button to pop the truck. I spinned my tires on several occasions by accident. VDC off does mean your traction control is off.

If you are racing in a straight line (Drag) make sure you turn it OFF. Trust me it sucks *** when dragging.

On tight turns kinda like autoXing you can leave it on, the car handles really smooth with it on. But if you wanna kick *** and get some awesome times, then turn it OFF. Because with it on and after taking a turn, the thottle is very tame.

Actually, there are two halves to it.. traction control, and stability control.

Traction control systems control wheel slip and allow you to accelerate under slippery conditions without spinning your tires.

Stability control systems have yaw sensors and can correct vehicle skids (oversteer, or spin-outs).

VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) is Infiniti's name for their system, which is both traction and stability controls.

You can turn it mostly off. There's something in the system that Infiniti calls "Brake LSD" -- applies brakes to a spinning wheel to force traction to the other wheel -- that remains active, along with ABS, even when VDC is off.

hell with it, i dont use vdc i dont like it. I put it on only when its raining .I think its better off for performence .Thats with my experience.

It's better left on at all times unless you're being aggressive. I leave it on for normal commuting and such just so it's there in emergency situations. I've left it on on purpose and driven aggressively in the rain to see what it could do, and it's pretty cool in that respect. But yes, if you're driving the car hard on dry pavement, turn it off.. that's why they put the button there.

Keep in mind that it's a safety feature, not a performance feature.

If I get a new LSD will that kill the braking that the VLSD does? I was driving my dad's 740iL in rain i wasnt pushign it cause i was sacred (plus im only 16 and recently aquired my liscense) but i tried to send the back end skidding by flooring it as i was exiting the turn and the tires were in a puddle of water and i started to feel the back lose control btu then it adjusted without ne skidding.. [censored] germans ingenuity.. i still had the traction control on tho. scared that if i didnt i woulda lost complete control and my dad would have killed me.. k.i.l.l.e.d. m.e.
