I like mine rebadged with the true nissan logos. I think that nissan should've stayed true to it's roots and not even created the infiniti naming. Same with toyota/lexus & honda/acura. They just know that we are suckers for name brands and this is a way to squeeze out more money from us.

I'm pretty sure that the 350z is still the 350z in Japan. "FairladyZ" is the track model that was even offered here in the states. At least I know this for the 03-04 Zs. My old roommate had the track model which had the FairladyZ emblem on the back of the car from the factory.

However, I do agree that it is all about the branding. People were not willing to pay more for a Nissan, Toyota, or Honda no matter what options and amenities they threw in the car because the brands were known as econo cars... cheap econo cars. So they made up new brands to promote their nicer cars to the market. Ever wonder why the NSX was never sold as a Honda in the states? In the 90's, nobody would pay $40k+ for a Honda because the rest of the line-up were econo cars like the Civic or Accord starting at well under $15k. Hell, if you had the money, would you spend $100,000+ on a Toyota luxury sedan that rivals brands like Rolls Royce? People here won't even spend that much for it no matter how nice it is, even if they rebadged it as a Lexus, so they never brought the car over here...

It's always been Fairlady Z in Japan and never 350Z. The same goes with the USDM Z33, it was never offered as "Fairlady Z" regardless of trim. Your roommate's emblem was more than likely dealer installed. So to answer the OP's question, I don't think it's rice to put Skyline on a G35 if someone wants to go all out JDM. It's cool as long as they don't put "GT-R" anywehere.
"Fairlady" sounds like something Dofu would def. drive while wearing a really big, round hat... tilted to one side.

Then it must be funny to you how the more amenities Acuras have over their Honda counterparts are a softer fake leather, ambient interior lighting, better looking gauges, and a more elegant look, while the Nissan V35/V36 Skylines are exactly the same car as our G35/G37s, some with the better 8 speed tranny, others with more color options, as well as paddle shifters ever since the V35 has been out, along with other options that were never available to Infinitis.

It's not just Nissan that rebrands for the States. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's a Lexus or Acura in Japan. I don't know how they would position certain cars, like how they could convince someone that a Lexus ES is that much better than a fully loaded V6 Camry.
And Lexus is a brand in Japan too...

I don't see anything with rebadging as long as the car is mostly the same(chasis, engine etc.) RHD is cool to look at but not that big a deal, honestly. Debadging I see as more rice IMO but that's just me
