I want new headlights... HELP!

Hey all,

I've been a member here for as long as I've had my G (August 2005 I think). Anyways my driver side signal bulb has finally gone out and when I asked them how much it would cost to change they told me around $200 (due to labor of taking off the front bumper).
Is it true that you need to take off the front bumper just to change out the signal bulb in the headlights? I had them recently change the longblock due to the oil issue under warranty and they told me they still couldnt swap it with the engine out...

Anyways, main part of my post... if I'm taking off the front bumper I want to mod my headlights as well. I recall there being a user here who could mod headlights and was wondering if that person or someone who knew him could PM me some contact info. Here's what I would like (but not required):

1. Black painted housing (to match the original black obsidian)
2. Projector lights from 06+
3. Cleared out signal bulb area (not the stock orange)
4. The side light part to be LED

Let me know if you guys can remember the name or if anyone out there is planning on parting their G's lights

Thanks!

lmfao at $200 to change signal lights. Do it yourself, it wont take more than 20 minutes.

As far as upgrading your headlight, you can purchase them new from riverside for $550 i think. If you want them modified, it would help if you posted your location. Maybe theres someone local to you that can do it.

ivorygt used to mod headlights, but hes long out of that.

You probably should just buy a pair of 06-07 projector headlights and mod them.

It does require the front bumper to be removed in order to change the front signal lights.

The bumper doesnt have to be completely removed either. You could just take off the clips from about the grill, peel back the fender linings to remove the screw from each side of the fenders and pull the bumper off but not completely.

Thanks for the posts. Ya I planned on doing this myself but I figured this would be an excuse to finally mod my lights =)

Johnny, those are sick headlights, are they yours? The 1 main thing I really want are the black housings, and I know you need to bake the lenses off to do it...

I'm located in So-Cal if anyone knows people who do this work.

Thanks!

Riverside Infiniti is a good place to buy projectors from but I took a chance on a set for sale on ebay for $100 less. They were "New in Box" as advertised and bulbs were included. Just swapped out the ballasts and they're a plug & play. Doesn't hurt to shop around if the seller has a very high customer satisfaction percentage.... And they work really, really great!!

It really sucks that everyone associates Leds with audis now... They were the first to do it on stock models, But people in the mod scene have been doing it years before then.
