'06-07 projectors
I liked the amber park lights and clearance strip that were on the 2003 - 2005 headlights which were "lost" on the 2006 projectors.. I would disconnect the little city light bulb and swap out the 2006 single circuit bulb and socket (signal) with the old 2003 dual circuit bulb and socket (signal/park light) from your old headlights. A little rewiring and the amber park lights are back.
You will need to get a new bulb because of the color, the clear dual filament bulb (from your old headlights) needs to be replaced with a new dual circuit amber bulb.

City Lights 06 Projectors
I've looked around at the back of the headlights (inner fender removed) and it appears that the area behind the city bulbs is solid. How do you swap out these bulbs? Do you need to install them from the front?
It's a little tab like thing in the back. Should be straight forward. It uses a 194/168 type bulb I believe.
Also, are the projectors plug'in play? I heard a grounding wire needs to be moved or something.

city lights dont really serve much purpose other than to give a little glow in the front of the car since there are no marker lights on the 06 hls . To remove just turn the tab in the back and pull it out . It does kinda look like a fixed piece but its not .
i too just installed my 06 headlight n i dont like the city lights but i will change them to led at least im running 6000k hid n 3000k amber fogs but not liking it, got my amber led turning signal which i just ordered from ebay a led resistor... now taking out the city lights i can do it straight from the car or i have to take out the headlights???
Well, I've answered my own question. I'm taking my car to the body shop on Wednesday to get a new freshly painted (Obsidian Black) front bumper cover. I had a number of small dents and the normal chips so I deceided to replace the cover in the hopes that a paint job from the shop might hold up better than OEM paint. In order to save a few bucks I removed the inner fenders the rubber underbody spoiler and my OEM lip. So there wasn't much more to do to remove a headlight. In my projector headlight (Riverside Infiniti) you have to remove the fog lamp cover to access the city light. It shares the opening with the fog lamp. To remove the city light you reach inside. There are two little push clips on either side of the bulb socket and pull it out. The opening for the socket is round so the clips just exert pressure but there aren't any grooves or anything. The bulb just pulls out like the side marker bulbs. Then you just push the socket back in. There is not alot of room inside the opening to manuver. This is not an easy process and if I hadn't already had so much stuff removed it would have been a PITA. The moral to the story is if you want to replace the city lights do it before you install your headlights. The OEM bulb gives a dull gold look compared to the OEM projector headlamp. If you have your headlights installed make sure that you have the exact replacement bulbs that you want to install because your not going to want to do this more than once. As far as external tabs go as mentioned above I didn't see any unless there is more than one type of projector headlight assembly. That's why I mentioned where mine came from.
