huperoptik tint/a m radio

So, ...in listening to you guys, it looks like huperoptiks is the choice tint. I called them and they will do for a bit over 400 and state it is ceramic based and more heat reflective. I am wondering if anyone knows if this will effect my radio reception less than metal-based films, and what tint I should go with in Calif with dg coupe. By the way , I am paranoid about sun baking my back headrests and usually keep the seat fold down at work. Silly, but I LOVE this car.

well, considering that tint goes on the inside of the window, and the rear antenna will then be between the window and the film...then reception should not suffer, the thing that would suffer is probably your radar detector

thnks!
I was hearing from somewhere in here that the metal film was decreasing am reception, maybe it was in detailing forum? anyways, this seems like a lot for this film. Again thanks for the thought.

AM radio can be different. It's possible that a conductive film would "short" the antenna or change it's pattern due to a backplane effect. You may also get a blockage effect (like driving under a bridge when AM will fade). There are so many possibilities that it will be impossible to really know what will happen until you try it. Sorry.

$400.00!!!!!!!!!! Whoa!!!!

Personally I would never pay that much for a tint job. But I am a penny pincher when it comes to little things. I have heard nothing but good things about the huper tint im sure it will be worth it.

I know, 400 seems high, especially when I can get metal film for about 1/3 of this. BUT, if it does not effect am radio, I suppose I could eat i if can hear Angels ballgame. I KNOW somewhere in this forum, guys said the meatl film cut the sensitivity and range of radio.

Re: huperoptik tint/a m radio

I had the same concerns you did about reception. Not sure what type of tint I used in the last 2 cars, but I had almost no AM reception with those tint and with my after market radio.

I've tinted my G 4 days ago and I have no problems with my radio reception. They used tint from Solar Guard, just in case you wanted to know. It come with a 20 year warantee blah blah blah.

Anyways it cost me $170 out the door.

Re: huperoptik tint/a m radio

Ugh! You guys suck... The 91 octane stuff is still over $2.00 here in Phoenix! We've got some serious price fixing going on.

The huperoptik stuff looks good, btw. Anyone know of a shop that'll do it in my area?

Over $2 a gallon! Well, now.....
I called huperoptiks at 888-2963456 and they gave me the number of their installer in southern cal.
But I got a high quote, so I am going to try someone else, or go with the solar guard.
Good luck!

Where in S. Cali are ya'll getting under $2? Best I can do in San Diego is $2.19, and you have to search for that.
