Re: gas mileage

Getting 15-17 mpg per tank mixed freeway/city (mostly heavy traffic)
Very disappointed since I was getting 17-20 mpg in my S-class benz with a V8 and same driving!

Re: gas mileage

Same here.......I came from a BMW 540 (which is a 4.4 liter V8) and the G coupe gets worse MPG. It makes no sense to me.

Re: gas mileage

Hmmmmmmm, is that the reason why infiniti did not put a " trip computer into our G so we can't push a botton and find out the MPH right away. Love the G, but the mpg really really sucks, even without turning on the A/C most of the time and not pushing it really hard. What's going on ?

Re: gas mileage

i've noticed i get better mileage with the a/c on and windows closed than with the windows open. Opening them messes with the aerodynamics so much with the wind coming into the car and going right back and hitting the rear windshield. Got 3400 miles, was getting 21.5 with windows open. 23 with them closed and a/c. My driving is mostly highway.

Re: gas mileage

It will get better in time. Same thing with me when i got my car. I was getting HORRIBLE fuel economy. I think i got something like 220 miles a full tank. The most helpful thing i have noticed that has improved my gas mileage is my oil change with synthetic oil. I got my synthetic oil change @ 6500 mi about and before then, i was doing 240-250 on a full tank. Now i get 280 on a full tank. The G runs like 3-4 gallons past when the fuel light comes on though, but i never went that far. Well i take that back, one time i pushed it so much that when i went up to fill it, i saw the meter on the pump and it read 19.88 gal. Our tank having a 20 gal capacity, that left me with 0.12 gal left!!! But yea...dont be scared to run it past the light at least 40 miles or so. That could effect your mileage calculations.

Re: gas mileage

I have 8000 miles on my car and avg 20 mpg. I have AC Econ on 100% of the time with temp around 70 deg (I live in Seattle). My commute is about 13 miles one way with about 90% freeway.

Re: gas mileage

Hmm, I was actually surprised at my coupe, was getting ~25mpg highway when the car was brand new. My city mileage was around 17mpg. It's getting better now at 2000mi on the odo and I hope it will get even better when I switch to synthetic. Any car burns the most gas when the engine and oil are cold so if you take it easy while it's warming up in the morning that should help. I usually keep it at below 2k rpm and even 1500 until the temp gauge shows optimal temp then I wait further to let the oil warm up before releasing my lead foot )

Re: gas mileage

When I first got the car I found that if I keep the rpms really low! I am talking never more than 2k I was able to get 28.9 miles to the gallon on the freeway. Of course this is a rediculous way to drive but I figure its how Infiniti got their less than accurate MPG figures. Not to hijack the thread but does the climate control have the ability to keep it at say 70 degrees in a hypothetical situation such as 80 in the day and 65 at night even though it is set on auto econ AC mode?

Re: gas mileage

Infiniti doesn't state what their mileage it, it's measured by the EPA, so you can blame them.

I keep mine at 70 and when it's hot, it'll cool, when it's cold, it'll warm up. Although not perfect, it works better than the auto climate control in my old pathfinder. And better than the manual climate control in my gf's 200sx

Re: gas mileage

I am up to 1200 miles on the odo. Use a mpg calculator based on mileage driven on full tank, number of gallons purchased, etc. Should be pretty accurate. Keep windows closed always, a/c at 60-70 (very hot here in Tampabay). BTW the nav display on mine also shows fuel economy.

Re: gas mileage

I have about 8000km/4800miles on my car and I have noticed since my 1st oil change that I have been getting better gas milage on every tank of gas since. (Keeping my driving habits and routes the same) Even though it is still not great I can see improvment as the car gets more broken in. (Thank god for that) Anyways keep on driving....
IT WILL GET BETTER I PROMISE!!!
