Couple questions about tune up

I hit 71k miles on my 2004 coupe. Recently my car has been stalling when starting it up. This only happens when the car is warm. I searched the forums and most people are saying that it is either the MAF or throttle body. I'm going to clean that tomorrow. But, I have other questions...

When are you supposed to do a tune up? I've heard you do it after 100k miles, but I think I rather do it now and not have anything mess up and I get stranded somewhere. I almost got stranded today when the car didn't start. I got the car at 49k miles. Don't know if previous owner did the regular maintenance or not.

Second question, what is all that you have to do for a tune up? I know you have have to change the belts and spark plugs. What else is there? BTW, my car is AT.

I plan on doing the tune up myself. I've got some tools, but I'll get other tools as needed.

Thanks

could be your fuel filter, but normally if this is the case the car stalls or has a delayed startup on cold starts.

Try this site

It is a good guideline as to what needs to be done and when.

Got it running good now. I cleaned my Throttle Body and Mass Air Flow sensor. There is a DIY on this forum that shows you how to clean it.

Thanks, I looked up the maintenance manual on the website and it gives a lot more detailed info on what needs to be done and when.
