30K Inspection

Before you jump down my throat and tell me to use the search function, I did search. I just got off the phone w/ my local Infiniti and Nissan dealerships for a 30K inspection service price quote, and one is telling me that a diff fluid change is necessary and other says it isn't due until 100K. Can someone please list what all is involved w/ this 30K service and about how much you paid? Thanks

It tells you what is done at what interval.

Depends on how you drive. You may not need the diff flushed at 30K, but I would definitely have it done before 100K.

To have the dif fluid changed at 100k sounds absurd. I had mine changed at 40k. Personally I would have it changed.

What is involved in the 30,000 mile service is in your service manual. The price is going to be high.
I bought the car used but it only had 15K miles on it. It is my daily driver so I don't drive it to aggressively nor do I track the car.

Yeah I agree, 100k is crazy!

Yeah it can't be that much extra to have it changed.

So if I decide to diy this inspection where is a cheap place to purchase the parts and fluids? Also, if this isn't performed at Infiniti will my warranty become void?

I can tell you what I did and you can form your own opinion. I had all fluids replaced, radiator/transmission/differential/brake and had it done at Nissan. They use the same fluids as Infiniti and the cost is 40% less. I believe my bill came to just over $260 and that included a new drive belt too.

^Exactly

Op, go buy some fluid for $10 and replace it yourself, much cheaper then going to a shop. And check this thread out: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...eo-series.html

I'm assuming you are talking about the diff fluid? I wouldn't think that Autozone brand fluids would be the route to go w/ these cars.

So maybe I would be better off telling Nissan that I would like "said" fluids changed and sort of piece together the 30K service inspection. Did you not get the oil changed as well...how about the cabin air filter (mine stinks)?

True replacing fluids is not difficult especially if you have access to a lift, unfortunately these upcoming weeks will be super busy for me so I will have very little free time.

Are you talking about OEM fluid? Where is the best place to purchase?

Also, if I diy will my factory warranty become void?

I have 78k on mine and I bought it with 69k. I am changing out the rear diff oil next week with a synthetic gear oil. I just have a feeling the previous owner did not change it going by the fact I found some interesting things in the air intake box when I first bought it.

I actually talked to a Nissan dealership about what oil to use and they said they just use a basic 85w gear oil when customers come in and he told me to buy the synthetic instead.

You can find the fluid at any auto parts store, its like $5-7 a qt. I honestly don't know if its better then OEM or not, "FCPImport" covered the details.

I doubt it would void the warranty. Keeping the receipts might help though.

Autozone carries all brand names. So Mobil1 or anything in that criteria isn't good enough???

Just do the diff change yourself. It doesn't even require you to jack up the car (stock height) go get 2 qts of your choice of oil 75-90 and a pump device to push the oil into the diff. When diff starts to over fill then its full. Done.
