Hit and Run on FREEWAY **PICS**
That's right! I can't get over it myself. Long story short, some guy rammed right into my rear right tire, sending us spinning 540 degree on the freeway with traffic. After we collected ourselves, we realized he hit another car and took off!
Anyway, here's the details. As some of you may already this is what my car used to look like.

If you're intrested in what happened in more detail read on.
Basically my gf and I were driving along the 110 freeway (she was driving), minding our own business in far left lane (1st lane or fastest lane). There's a gentle curve to the right, which we were following at about 60 mph (speed limit is 55). Right in the middle of the turn, a blue 1980's Chevy comes hurling into us, hits our right rear tire, pops it immediately. Then scraps along the entire right side of the car. You can see his tire and rim digging into my passenger side door. The grinds along the entire right side and hits my front right rim, which sends us out of control towards the center divider. She quickly counter steers to the right and we end up actually changing direction and slowly turn to the right, at which point, with a rear tire, control is impossible so we make a 540 degree turn in the middle of the freeway with oncoming traffic. Miraculously, no one hits us. We end on the last lane or far right lane, facing oncoming traffic after a blind turn. Here's a map of the free way to get a better idea. The blue dot is where we were struck and the purple dot is where we ended up facing traffic. Although, you can't tell from the map, it's a 4 lane freeway.

We looked around to see if the vehicle that struck us had stopped, but he was no where in site, so we deciced to turn around and go get him! We turned around very quickly trying to avoid all oncoming traffic. We saw a vehicle about 500 feet in front us pulled over to the side, although, it wasn't the vehicle that hit us. We pulled and she got out and told us the Chevy and hit her too and just kept going!
I can't believe the bastard took off! None of us had a chance to get any plates or anything. CHP showed up and made a police report, they mentioned it was VERY unlikely that they would catch the guy, even though the entire front side of his car was demolished.
Anyway, that's about it. The damage looks like it's only superficial, although every panel on the right side of the car will definitley have to be replaced. The rims are gone too. I have to bring it to a mechnic to see if there's any damage to the rear right drive train, since that took most of force of the impact.
It's times like this, that I kill myself wondering if we were only few seconds slower or faster how things would have turned out differently. But I am glad and thankful that no one was hurt, not even any whiplash, we're all still alive and doing well. The car only has some external damage, nothing too tramatic. I am grateful for that.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune bro. You're right, it could have turned out much differently. As bad as the damage is, and as nasty as that idiot was, you both walked away and your ride can be repaired like new.

Wow, that sucks. But at least you are ok -- the car can be fixed, but when people get hurt, it's much worse.
It's amazing that something like this can happen, and the police say they will probably never catch him. It would cost money, but you could hire a private investigator...

I know you mean well but realistically, it's doubtful you'll ever catch the guy. From my experience, the only time these people tend to be found are when their car breaks down while fleeing, someone actualy gets a plate# or the guy lives in the area(usually only if the accident happens in a residential neighborhood). As much as I would like to see these people caught, I would be realistic in saying it would be pretty much a waste of money hiring a PI on something like this, especially with so little to go on.
