Got an 06. No manual. Few questions.

I just bought a used 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT with 75k miles on it. Got a decent deal on it but there are a few problems.

First, the brake and clutch pedals are slippery. The little rubber nubs are worn smooth. Is there any way to replace these pads or does the whole pedal have to be replaced?

Second, it did not come with an owners manual. I'll see if I can get one from Infiniti. The one thing I can't figure out (so far) is in the center of the dash display the word 'Rev' appears. It stays there and will not go off. Anyone know what this is? What do I need to do about it?

Third, it only came with one key. I'm going to need another. Anyone know how much they cost?

Thanks for any tips you can give. This doesn't seem like a technically complicated car (like my wife's 07 x) but I'll probably have a few more questions until I get a manual.

Thanks,

George

Hi George, the first thing I do when buying a car is add those aluminum brake/clutch/throttle covers. You'll never slip off of those even with wet shoes and they look great. You can get tons of information and an owners manual for www.infinitihelp.com, smarter and cheaper than going to Infiniti dealership....

"Rev"..? I think it's like a shift light. U can set it to whatever rpm u like. I set mine to constantly be on the first couple days I owned my car so it wouldn't constantly go on and off, it drive me nuts. But honestly. It's been over 5yrs.. I'm not 100% sure...

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Gary, it has the aluminum covers but the rubber is worn away. I'll do a search on how to replace them. Thanks for the link for the manual. I'll definitely do that.

I don't think the 'rev' indicator is a shift indicator. If it is, it is broken. It never goes away, no matter what gear or what the tach says. There is a "DISP" button on the radio panel. I'm not sure what it means either. I thought it might change the dash display (and the 'rev' indication) but I can't tell that it does anything.

I'll keep researching but a manual will surely help.

I was disappointed with the dealership (Infiniti) that they only gave me one key (they could have gotten me another one and another remote), there was virtually no gas in it and no owners manual. I got the impression that I got them to come way down off the price and they seemed a bit peeved. I'm sure they still made money on it so they really should not let that affect service.

REV will ALWAYS stay on. it just will. nothing is wrong with your car. but under REV there is a red light that flashes when you hit a certain RPM that it is set to. you can adjust it by by pressing your mileage stick thing....sorry i dont know the correct word for it. well anyways, you press that until you pass mileage A and B. then there will be just numbers. by pressing and holding it there you will make those numbers flash, once they're flashing you just press the stick and adjust that number. according to what RPM number you adjust it to when your tach/engine hits that RPM a little red light under REV will flash. oh, and by putting it the number at 8000 when you're adjusting it turns off the feature. also there is another light that says SLIP which is basically when you engage VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control).

My pedal covers are made by RAZO and there's zero rubber, if fact you wouldn't enjoy driving with your bare feet. They're designed to keep your feet/shoes from slipping off when moist/wet. Google RAZO pedal covers you'll see what I mean....

Thanks Inter-America. It is frustrating that you can't turn that 'Rev' light off. I've got it set not to flash or anything. It strikes me as an idiot light and it seems odd that the word 'Rev' is always going to appear in the center of the dash. Oh well, not the end of the world or anything.

Thanks Gary, I'll look into the Razo pedals. I wonder if they are cheaper than replacing what's on there with the OEM ones. jibberjabbers, its got the sport pedals, they're just worn smooth.

correct on the REV indicator its always there. just means you have the rev up model which has few more horses than the standard model. the car has some weird things you wouldnt know about unless you searched the forum or have an owners manual. Try holding down the unlock button on your key fob...the windows roll down then stick your key in the door and turn to lock and they will go up. neat thing i didnt know about. also the DISP button is for satellite radio i believe and if you dont have it, the button does nothing at all.

Like someone else said. the rev will always be there u can set the rpm light to flash at any rpm. I have mine set at 6,000, reminds me of gran turismo About the pedals, they are what they are and even more slippery when the bottom of your shoe is a little wet, thank god i live in south cali were it never rains.
