Hi guys. I know that I just placed my G35 order, but man just as I thought waiting was hard, looking at other cars kinda got to me. When seriously thinking of buying a car recently, the only other choice then the G that would fit me and my budget would be the Acura TL. Could any of guys or gals here express your opinion on the TL?

As for me, the TL's interior rocks...it looks really nice compared to the G now. The 2005 G interior looks nicer now though, but I don't know if it's as nice as the TL. TL has voice recognition, which is REALLY nice. I had a chance to try it out, its really neat and I wish the G had this. You could control almost anything you could think of. Wireless phone with Bluetooth is nice too, to bad I don't have a Bluetooth phone though, but I will if I were to get this car. The TL has a touch screen nav, this is really nice and makes it a lot quicker to go through the menus.

As for the exterior, the TL looks nice, but it doesn't have that WOW factor when you look at it, how the G does. I really don't like the tail light of the TL, also the side lines on it. The front looks nice though, but sorta looks Mustang like, the ones out now, not the 05 coming out. Plus it's a 4 door, and I rather get a coupe if possible.

BTW, I'm getting the G Coupe 6MT w/ everything below around approx $36, 500. I'm getting it VPP also. As for the TL, the 6MT w/ nav starts at approx $35, 500 or so. So as you can see, the TL is cheaper, if it wasn't for the VPP discount, the G 6MT would be approx 3-4K more. At that point, I think I would really consider the TL over the G, eventhough I've always wanted a G ever since I've known about it, this would be way before it was ever released.

So please tell me why I should get the G over the TL, thanks. Anythang would be helpful. All and all, I'm looking into buying a new car with the next 3 months.

I was in the same boat about 2months go... G35C or TL...

I chose G35C mainly because of the performance factor
and the electronic seats that move forward/aft when rear
passengers entire/exit the car.

Well the TL is not faster in straights or the twisties I have run against the TL auto vs auto equals 2plus car lengths at 80 so manual vs manual the same and that car which is similar to my old car the cls has poor steering and you feel like you can run into a wall when you go fast through corners

 

its basically a decision between a hot sporty coupe vs a very practical and luxerious family sedan. do you like the thrill or driving or do you like comfort in driving? hands down the acura's navigation system is a billlliiiooon times better than the G. my G has a navi and its nothing compared to my mom's tsx's navi. i prefer speed, torque and a hot exotic look so i went with the G. either way, you cant make a bad choice between these two.

My wife and I were in the same boat a few months ago...she wanted the TL (because of the gadgets) and I wanted the G35 for the look & performance. We went with the G35 and my wife actually told me the other day that she was happy that we did. She loves the car. I think the TL looks like a "spiffier" (if that 's a word) Honda Civic. It does not have that eye-catching look that the G has. Good choice...

 

It would seem to me that the G35 Sedan is a more appropriate comparison to the TL than the coupe

Both are great cars. I've owned Honda/Acura products in the past (currently a 98 AV6 sedan) and they are great cars. Great value, all-around cars.

I can't tell you much about the '05 TL, but I'm sure you can't go wrong if you bought one. If I were to buy a TL, I would buy it with the attitude of luxury with a little "pep" in mind.

I bought my G, because it fits me. I enjoy this car! I know it's not perfect, not the fastest, and most luxureous, but it puts a smile on my face. (even when I get roasted by a C5/C6 vette, or even a Dodge Neon [SRT-4] for that matter). It's all about your attitude.

I'm sure your going to get some good advice from others here. My only advice is to be happy with your decision.

I narrowed it down to the the same choices initially as well. (G35Coupe vs. TL vs. A4)... I had an V6 accord before and when I sat in a TL, it made it feel like I was IN THE SAME car!! [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img] Granted, the TL was much nice than my accord, but overall feel was the same and I needed a change. Plus the RWD and having a 2-door coupe really help influence that decision.

I get a lot of compliments from others and the G35 is such a beautiful car IMO... It's all a matter of personal preference. I don't think you can go wrong with either car. However, I figured (and added) the "fun factor" into my purchasing decision... [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

That's the EXACT SAME WAY I FELT coming from my 1998 Honda Accord EX-V6. I would have kept my old Accord before taking the hit on the new Acura. Don't get me wrong, the TL was nice and all, but there wasn't enough of a change to get me to pull the trigger. I don't care what Acura advertises, the hp difference wasn't a night and day difference. The interior was nice, but almost too roomy and the gadgets just didn't do it for me.

I'm very glad I got my G coupe.

I also bet modding the TL would not be near as much fun as the G, as they don't have much other than the intake and exhaust to work with at the present time.

 

I also looked at the TL when i was shopping around, the ONLY thing i liked about that car was the navi system its probably the best if not one of the best on the market. You cant really compare these two cars! I know it sucks having the wait but it will be worth it! I waited over 9 months to get mine and i havent regretted waiting for it at all.

Same here. I thought I saw a lot of G's, but the TL is turning up everywhere.

As for your choice, like most will say, it's ultimately your decision. If you ask me, I'd say screw the TL, don't even bother with an '05 G, just buy an '04.
