Wow, that sucks. I would go through insurance. And never drive with bald tires. Maybe car would wouldn't have slid. And the ABS should have kicked in.

best to go through the insurance company unless there is something your neglecting to tell us ,like maybe you dont have insurance or you know they will say its your fault because you hit someone from the back plus you have crappy tires.
FYI if the pas airbag deployed the dash has to be changed and that could run you 1100 plus the airbags you could be looking at 3,000-5,000 depending on if your going to change the parts yourself and if your going to repaint the whole car

well if the tires are bald, less then 2/32nds the insurance would be blaming him.
It rained alot in S.FL this week. Even though your tires are blad ABS should of kicked in but being that your tires look bald( is that the band showing?) your tires was just riding on a film of water.
If there was no passenger then he would only need to replace the steering wheel airbag and it might not be as expensive and people think.

The reason why I didn't want to file under insurance was going to be based on how much repairs were, and whether or not it would be cheaper in the long run. At this point insurance will be a lot cheaper.

Its really not gonna cost 11 to fix but airbags deployed means total to the insurance company my uncle owns a body shop so i should know plus im in the process of repairing a g coupe with worst damage than that but i think it might be too late to file the claim being that it happen a long time ago get rid of it if you cannot deal with the headache of looking all over for the best prices in parts and labor

You already made the decision to not call the insurance company your damage is not that bad no frame damage and it looks like only ypur dricer airbag deployed 2 bolts to change that but a hood bumper and grille hopefully the rad support it not cracked or broken then you can just fix it i bet you can even do the repairs yourself without a shop

We really can't offer good damage repair advice based on a single cameraphone picture. It may look like only the hood and fender need replacement, but no one can tell what other hidden damage there may be.
Airbag deployment in itself doesn't necessarily mean a vehicle is totaled, but it may be an indicator for how hard the impact was. The potential for frame damage is higher with airbag deployment.
You should strongly consider having your car towed to a competent body shop that can give you a professional opinion regarding what it will take to get your car repaired correctly. Don't just ask a bunch of us idiots on a message board somewhere.
Seriously. Have you read some of the threads posted here? Why would you ask us for advice?
