Question What would you do if you were me.

ok I've had a 03 DG 6mt coupe for some time now and of all my cars it has been my favorite. I love it so much that this year it put me thru hell, engine went, tranny went, and my aftermarket clutch and flywheel had to go back to stock. (couldn't take it just hated chatter and gears would grind). Now all of this probably cost me about 5000 this year, car is paid off. I got the car about 8k less than what they were going for so to me it kinda evens out.

Now I've done a few things to the car HKS exhaust, dropped, shocks, 20 inch m6rims. What is left to do is Kenstyle kit, rotors, orange paint job, and change complete interior to black (stock, looking at junkyards for wrecked g's). All of this will cost me about another 7K and I'm done.

My issue is that I'm looking for a 03 fx35 for my gf and they are around 15k with 100k in miles. So I look at the 08 g37's and they have them going for around 20K online with low miles. Should I sell my g (for like 12K, if I can get it. Car has 73K on it but engine and tranny are under 8k on them) and just get an 08 and start all over again or keep the g and just finish it off. Third option is to convince her to get it and start hooking up both cars (she doesn't care for modding so this would be hard to convince her of even if I paid for it.)

I don't really love the g37 more than the 35 except for the interior. And whatever car I own it can't be stock, hate stock anything. Also I feel like selling will be kinda hard to explain with a different engine (i have an 05 now), almost new tranny, and brand new clutch I think is a plus. Anyway sorry for the long post just want some honest opinions if you were in my shoes.

Just out of curiosity what happened to your engine and how many miles did you have on it when it blew?

If you're planning to paint your G orange, please sell it before doing so and buy a Honda Civic.

j/k not my taste.

Now if you weren't going to paint it orange ( ), I'd say keep it. "Paid for" frees up a lot of money for modding, or, more wisely, saving and investing in something that actually has a shot at appreciating in value.

You've already replaced the big ticket items in your car. You've got an engine/transmission with 8000 miles on them. Pat yourself on the back for saving $220/mo. or ~$2500/yr.

Just my thoughts. Best wishes whatever you decide.

Of all the really cool colors available why would you consider orange? That falls into the same catagory as yellow....uucckk! Maybe you should trade in your G35 for something that doesn't need paint and you can't destroy!

Don't paint it orange. The engine gave out at 73k miles? Wtfux? That's a bit too much money to invest in an 03 G35. Idk. Or that might just be me. You've already spent ALOT on it so I'm not sure what I would do if I were in your position.

Would of just gotten rid of the car and got a newer one if all that died out.

I guess I really shouldn't say orange isn't my taste. Just not for the G I guess.

Thanks. It keeps me from getting too worked up about wanting forced induction for my G. Whenever that itch strikes I just jump on the bike and save myself $8000.
